Putin has said from day 1 he had no desire to conquer Ukraine. He has stuck to his original statement in which he said he was only going after a specific area of ukraine where the government had been purging ethnic russians.

FYI, Trump indicated a week or so ago that he was going to sell Tomahawk missiles to Denmark (IIRC) and in turn Denmark was going to sell them to Ukraine.

It's more strategic than that. Internally Putin's opposition are very rich oligarchs doing business with Europe and the West. Ironically NATO sanctions have pushed those guys East and forcing them to coalesce around Putin.
The goal of the West is to balkanize Russia and bleed its resources dry. Ever since Putin has come to power he's fought against balkanization. Russian oligarchs doing business with the west (especially in O&G) were the internal wedges inside Russia to initiate the balkanization process. Western sanctions have ironically disengaged those wedges.

You act like Ukraine hasn't been given billions of dollars and advanced weapons. It's as nonsensical as saying, "Why can't Russia take Afghanistan?
