Russia is preparing for a full blown invasion of Ukraine.

Will Ukraine even fight? 150K man army and barely 50 fighter jets against the might of the Russians? Do they just set up Ukraine as a puppet state?

It's going to look pretty bad if we break a treaty that calls for mutual defense of its members by the other members. You won't be able to count on their support after that, plus you'll lose a valuable ally against Russian aggression.
I'm not a globalist, police the world guy, but I think when you agree to defend a strong ally, you should uphold your promise.
