The US has a GBU-57A that will penetrate to 200 feet. Not hypersonic though.

I’m sure there are other goodies in the basket that will put perform that.

This is what keeps me awake at night. I have a personal, family interest in this scenario. And all I can do about it is pray.

The current Hypersonic Defense Strategists for OSD say the same thing.

Our carriers are sitting ducks.

I wonder how long the billions of dollars worth of military equipment we are sending them will survive?

Considering that Zelenskyy has already sold much of it to Africa, I'd say quite a while.

I'm sorry, but who is this "We" that you refer to? Because I can assure you, the amount of money currently being spent on research & development in hypersonic missile defense and our own hypersonic offensive weaponry is highly significant. I believe anything Ivan currently throws out, we've (U.S. DOD and defense partners) already gathered the knowledge on how they do it. Whether or not the current capability of the counter-measures that's been developed, so far, are able to effectively intercept and destroy a Hypersonic missile has not yet been publicly stated. That we've developed a proven and effective counter-measure (or not) is very debatable. Everyone I know who is working in the research and testing is bound by confidentiality due to the secretive, classified nature of the testing. Nonetheless, I do learn from them some of the purpose of the nature of the tests and research and methods of what and how they're testing from the physicists and engineers in those defense organizations that I work with.

You obviously haven't read much about this subject.

Aircraft carriers move. Fast. And maneuver. Fast. Hypersonic missiles have a sheath of plasma around their nose where the sensing instruments would be to adjust flight at the target in order to hit it and so far, seeing through that hasn't happened. It's not a ship killer without a huge nuke on it.

The kinetic energy of a Hypersonic missile, depending on the material and mass without a nuclear warhead, hitting the ship would create an extremely large shock wave from that built up energy that could destroy an aircraft carrier in one shot.

We probably gave them the tech so we could throw up our arms and demand a supersonic task force for 500 billion to develop a missile to combat it, its too dangerous a system to develop on US soil better set it up in an honest democratic location like Ukraine, or Sudan with the funding organized in Panama

Think of Russia as N. Korea. They have some destructive weapons, they can cause a lot of damage, but if the West ever got tired of their collective shite, they would be a foot note in the history books.

Suz Tzu - in my own words - shoot off your mouth when you are weak, keep your mouth shut when you are strong. Russia is full of bluster. Could they take Ukarine - not unless the West allows it. And the West may allow it to get oil (from anywhere other than the US) or because we grow tired of spending money on a war that doesn't impact us directly.

Is there any indication DC looks like they're growing tired of sending taxpayer money overseas for their proxy war?

They are organized enough to go into a large country and begin to surround the major cities. They are taking out military targets without resistance. How are the Ukrainians going to get resupplied? Russia owns the air. They will obtain a victory by the end of April.

So far there have been (3) phases of the war

Phase 1 - Russia's initial attack and offensive innitive ended in July after their offensives for the most part stopped

Phase 2 - Ukraine's counter offensive in Kharkov and Kherson August to November. Weather changed and grounds were mud.

Phase 3 - Current phase. Strategic stalemate. ground has been unfavorable for tracked vehicles to be used in mass. trench warfare, and maned assaults.

Phase 4 - TBD. which side will regain the initiative and conduct a successful offensive operation. Will likely start in April/Main (Spring, when rain season ends) question is will the Wests supplies help turn the tide or will Russia's mobilized forces overwhelm.....

but i highly doubt the war will be over by the end of April. it will likely get restarted by the end of april.
