Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are all NATO nations. So, if the Russians go beyond The Ukraine, it suddenly becomes very much so our problem.
Those collective security agreements are great, right up and until individual nations choose not to honor them…situationally.
If Russia times this right, near the end of the Olympics, China rolls on Taiwan as the lights go out on the closing ceremonies. I doubt the neophytes in the Biden* Administration have even gamed this out. We’ll do nothing.

It’s a bluff until it isn’t.

Honoring them is just as problematic as not doing so. See WW1.

I spent 9 years out of 30 in uniform in NATO assignments. Over and over again it was very clear that each country will weigh their own unique risk/reward balance on each occasion that NATO action is triggered under the collective security agreements. No way Germany, Italy, Greece, etc go to war with Russia over Ukraine, or any of the Baltic states.
Now Russia rolls on Poland or Eastern Europe, they may act, only because they’d be next. But in that case NATO win. Trust me, Russia has gamed this out.

One Million reservists also means that Russia may have more than Ukraine on their mind. Possibly Lativia, Lithuania, Estonia could all be invaded as well. Collectively re-establishing the Soviet Union.
I've been saying this. Vladimir's putting the band back together while the opposition is still preoccupied with choosing from the hundreds of genders.

Absolutely. The west is hyper focused on covid and social issues, and the progressives in power have a general disposition of appeasement for foreign policy as opposed to force, and the Biden administration is a mess.
Putin sees this as a rare opportunity to secure his interest. He’s going to move before republicans retake congress and the white house.

I still have difficulty seeing why Putin would want to invade and occupy the Ukraine. I could see annexation of the Donbas region but much of Ukraine is not full of Russians. The Ukraine is also a basket case economically. What do they gain by invasion?
I have read that NATO is considering actions which may cross Russian red lines. Maybe I could see an invasion to force recognition of Russian red lines and the fact that the Russians will respond if lines crossed. But even that doesn't make a lot of sense except as an in and out operation. Invasion and re-integration of the Ukraine back into Russia doesn't seem to add up. Who knows.

Yep, this will be an ugly war. A lot of elderly, women, and children are going to die.
This would not have happened if Donald J. Trump was our President.

It’s a combination of his belief that it’s fundamentally part of Russia, and the fact that the west WILL influence Ukraine and take it in to NATO eventually.
That’s a national security threat to a Russia. One they must move to eliminate. They will not tolerate NATO on their border. And as I pointed out, this is the time.

Yep. It's either a bluff or a continued psyop by the see eye A to further prep their false flag.
Russia isn't prepared for a full scale war. Putin is not that stupid. The guy is the former head of the Russian KGB... they deal in subterfuge, espionage and subjugation, not direct warfare.

NATO is already on their border in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia. Ukraine could be the final straw.

Yes they tolerate that because those countries are not a military threat in the slightest. I think each one of those countries only has one air base. Russia could crush all of them in one hour, and completely decapitate their command n control. Ukraine is a bigger quagmire especially if the west starts rapidly arming the Ukrainian military.

Another perfect example of a liberal blaming the other side of exactly what they are guilty of….

The West has been rearming the Ukrainian military for some time now and with top quality weapons and equipment. Much better than what they had in 2014.
