Putin would be very happy to take everything up to and including the Moravian Gate.
He only HAD TO HAVE crimea and a land bridge to it right now. Frankly I think he paid a crazy arse price for that. This is what I always thought he was after. The zhaporizha power plant and some ree/lithium deposits are the gravy and maybe why he thinks it was worth the expended lives and material.

The people of Russia certainly paid a very steep price.
I wish the "news" would accurately portray everything that has happened over there. Millions of lives, gone. But mankind will always mankind. It is what it is.

De facto recognition of occupied territories by "freezing" the issue for 49–99 years;
That's going to be extremely difficult to get the Ukrainians to agree to.

Nah. They need to give up more for sanctions relief.

Nah. See above.

Putin is buying time
He hasn't lost nearly enough in this war
And this is a Western map.
And if a peace deal is not made Odesa is next to fall as Russia squeezes it from Transnistria and Kherson. Then Ukraine's access to the Black Sea is totally cut off.

Surprised they are open to this since it's been Russia's man sticking point this whole time.
If this ends up happening (big if) then it would show Putin was full of shite the whole time

To make the search easier I used Grok and allowing Ukraine to join NATO is still a no-go according to Grok's research of Putin's list of conditions for a peace deal:
1. Territorial Concessions
2. Ukrainian Neutrality and NATO Membership Ban
3. Demilitarization of Ukraine
4. Cultural and Political Changes
5. Sanctions Relief
6. No Reparations and Restoration of Ties
7. Recognition of Russian-Speaking Population Rights
8. Ceasefire Conditions
Here is the source for number 2.: Exclusive: Putin's demands for peace include an end to NATO enlargement, sources say

This gives Russia time to restock and invade again. A cycle that keeps repeating itself.

It's a cycle that started with the Khazars in the 8th century.

Before the invasion happened and when the Russians were merely staging along strategic points on the Ukraine border, there was a percentage of us that said the ultimate end to this would be Russia annexing roughly the Eastern third of Ukraine...
And yet the majority of people in those areas are Ukrainians not Russians with the exception of Crimea. The Russians deported most of the non-Russians from Crimea.
