This is why Desantis is still in the race. The abortion issue is only applicable to the general election.

Desantis will continue to try and chip away at Trump's support. Trump gave Republicans the biggest win on abortion in decades. Yet, abortion will be used against him.

Desantis needs to be further buried for doing this.

Not only march in a pro-life parade but do the MOST of any president in world history for the pro-life movement.

The pro-life movement needs to focus on states. Conservatives need to stop appealing to the federal government on every issue. That only makes the federal government stronger. Conservatives need to make the federal government weaker and the states stronger.

Desantis is in the race because he believes he can do Trump but competent and without the constant brawling on tv. If you can't appreciate the difference that's on you.

As someone who believes abortion should be illegal with no exceptions except when the life of the mother is at stake, I have to say Florida's abortion bill is a good start, but not an end.

I will also say that Trump is correct on his position at the federal level. He did the work we asked him to in his first term. If he wants to win again, he cannot and should not take a hardline stance on any federal abortion bill.

Nor should anyone else who would get the nomination.

For defending the state law he signed which was attacked for no reason by Trump?

Keep getting lost in the storyline, WWE fans.

Hmmm. Once again, it is Trump who raised the issue. He could have avoided it altogether and simply said it's a state issue now that Roe has been decided and that's where it will stay. An easy answer to a rather easy question. But Trump had to go there by stating that Florida's Heartbeat Bill was a "terrible decision."

The legislature can make it the law of the land again. Will Trump stand in their way if he's sitting in the White House?

Doesn't sound like it.

He has zero chance of winning the primary barring Trump being removed from the race (which wouldn't require harming Trump politically).

He knows he has zero chance. This is about harming Trump in the general. It's blatantly obvious.

...no, for attacking Trump with the express intent of harming him in the general election.

I actually think he's had an impact. You need to understand his audience. He's talking to his 13%.

This is disingenuous and Ron knows it. Trump is taking a federalists approach and allowing the states to do what the states want to do. Like let Florida do what its electorate chooses on the issue of abortion.

Then why is Trump saying he’ll negotiate with the Democrats?
This is the problem with Trump, he has no core. He says whatever he thinks will help him in the moment.
When you believe in nothing, you’ll say and accept just about anything. That makes it easy to roll him, which Nancy Pelosi, the media, and just about every other Democrat did to him on a consistent basis.

FIFY.

Mitch is responsible for holding up Garland and also for standing up to the media and pushing through ACB.
