Whoever wins in 2028 is destined to be absolutely pulverized at the polls due to whatever “deal” they are forced to sign to save social security from running out in mid 2032 (when it’s projected)

1) they either sign a deal that raises retirement age/means test……voters will revolt

2) they sign a deal that lifts the cap on social security tax…resulting in a 12.4% tax increase on approximately 11% of upper middle class folks….voters will revolt

The conditions in 2031/2032 will be ripe for someone like Desantis who can run on mismanagement

Homeboy, if a Republican doesn’t win in 28’ it won’t matter who runs in 32’. There won’t be a path to victory, you are dreaming about SS no one is going to cut it

or they just pull from other taxes and/or debt.

the idea that social security can only be funded by social security taxes is silly and will have to change.

with that being said, something still needs to be done about Social Security’s long-term viability.

They should lift the cap dramatically but also shift the tax up the income ladder. Just to pull numbers out of thin air, exempt the first $100,000 of income from the tax and apply the tax to income up to income $500,000. Or, apply the taxes to capital gains above a certain $$$ amount.

Coupling a social security solution by lower taxes on labor and raising taxes on wealthier Americans higher active incomes or better yet passive capital income would be a winning issue for democrats in 2028. Democrats are generally well positioned to be the less erratic party voters should trust to fix social security.

To me this is the first step to get SS back to solvent. I don't think those voters will revolt any more than business owners will. I wouldn't revolt, I know its necessary.

2028 is a must win. A Republican needs to be there to veto all the shat that is coming from a DEM Congress.

Social security seems like one of those issues that people don’t want to change to accept the new reality. When SS was first enacted, life expectancy (per Google AI) was around 60 (slightly higher for women, slightly lower for men), with a 65 retirement age. Now, it’s around 80. I don’t propose raising retirement age to 85, but medical advances and lifestyle changes enable people to work well into their 70s, in both white collar jobs and light manual labor.

It wouldn’t solve the issue. It would at best kick the can down the road.

It also fundamentally alters the nature of how social security is designed.

Had the government not stolen the money from the SS Trust Fund, it would have $2.7 trillion dollars in it. And, we'd be talking about something else. The government stole it. The government will have to fix it. Millions worked years paying into the system (along with their employers). I could live without it but that's not the point. Some people, it's all they have. Yes, it's their fault they didn't plan but it's too late now.

FACT - Back in the 80's the democrats voted to treat Social Security receipts as just another income tax stream. This term "Social Security Lock Box" is just a term - there is no longer a S/S Lock Box. Any resemblance to Social Security as being a safe retirement nestegg was destroyed in the 80's by Joe Biden and the democrats. I know I was there, I watched them steal it. I even remember thinking - this will come back to haunt us.

So I'm sitting back waiting to see how the democrats deal with this $ 40 trillion dollar debt......and this massive "unfunded liabilities" demon that looms just over the horizon.

I know one thing for sure. The democrats are in a favorable position. They will control the government (hint: Donald Trump is toast) and that includes appropriations and $$$. They will take care of themselves, first. You do realize they're all filthy rich.

Then send out the MSM to attack their political opponents.

Yep, what a mess.

A game of dominoes anyone?

I think he's well-aware of this. He said in his press conference that the GOP won't be able to take the Senate back until 2032 at the earliest, and I think he knows that 2028 will likely be another bad year and it will be next to impossible to win the WH. And even if the GOP does, the Dems would block everything so the GOP President wouldn't have much power.

This week he has been settling the score with some of the MAGA RINO's who took shots at him from the left. Vivek was a Trump arse kisser whose entire purpose was to try and damage DeSantis and promote Trump. Vivek responded to a tweet about "don't say gay" a few years back and appeared to advocate for teaching 8 year old about sex in the classroom. He also celebrated June tenth, a woke virtue-signaling holiday. DeSantis called him out for being a shite candidate, getting crushed in Ohio, and the idiots who nominated him.

He also called out Kristi Noem for caring more about publicity and making headlines than doing her job. Noem agreed with the bullshite MAGA narrative that DeSantis was a lockdown king similar to Cuomo and Newsom, when in reality he stood up to Fauci and she tried to lockdown for a long time but the state legislature overruled her. She also used leftist talking points to attack him in 2023-2024.

So what does that mean for 2028? Based on his statements, I think he realizes that a GOP President can't win and even if they somehow do they'd have virtually no power. I think he knows that 2032 is the time to strike for the GOP, as he said the Dems will overreach if they control everything and there will be a massive backlash. I think he's also fine with settling a score with Vance and would be fine with Vance being the sacrificial lamb in 2028. Vance used leftist talking points to hit DeSantis in 2023-2024 as well.

Ron is the best administrator in the Republican Party and likely will never be president. It’s a popularity contest not necessarily the best man wins.

Voters might be over the cult of personality thing at this point. A lot of people are tired of the embarrassing sideshow. We just want results.

How many on this website are in their 40's 50's and or 60's and been paying into SS for many years...

Now tell all of them SS is GONE and you paid your hard earned money in for nothing.

Then you will get the Revolution.

Unless I am missing something here.

The cap is raised every year

I presume you're talking about completely removing the cap?

Absolutely. These idiots fricked us in 2022 as well. They were the main reason there was no red wave because they nominated shite candidates that went on to lose nearly every single swing races.

Kari Lake-Abrams
Dr. Oz
Doug Mastriano
Don Bolduc
Herschel Walker
Karoline Leavitt
Tudor Dixon
John Gibbs
Joe Kent

The list goes on and on

True. Tired of the clown show. Tired of the corruption. Tired of politicians using the office to enrich themselves. Just do the job and be effective.
