First, 20th Century Foreign Policy would obviously have been even more ill-suited for the 18th Century than the reverse. Which illustrates one layer of the Christie's stupidity in the comparison.
Second, he insinuated Wilson made some calculated choice to maneuver the country into WWI. Didn't happen. Events, rather than Wilson, drove the US into WWI.
Third, he insinuates Washington was concrete and inflexible in his approach to problems. i.e., Washington would have forced 18th Century approaches into a 20th Century setting. Anyone with a whiff of background on Washington knows such rigidity is antithetical to nearly every aspect of Washington's leadership approach.

This is simply false in regards to WW1.
All the nations/empires involved then were monarchies and had been for centuries. Dictatorships arose after the established monarchies were abolished in Germany, Russia, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman empires due to the war.
