I didn’t say what she did was right, and it was a justified shoot. But she was just trying to flee.

I think the story at the average dinner table needs to be that we don’t love a masked federal government agent pulling guns but also that you can’t act so incredibly foolish so as to make that gun a relatively reasonable pull
Unfortunately I think too many houses will be calling one person or the other a terrorist.
She’s dumb and thought she was doing good and likely wasn’t intending to harm the guy but simply dodge accountability. I highly doubt he went to work trying to make a life changing split second decision to second guess to eternity.

I agree with essentially all of this.
Sitting with this one a few hours now I do struggle to believe her intent was going to be having her wife film her attempting to kill an agent in the street. I think it’s like 97% she was simply trying to dodge accountability and had been told you don’t have to listen to them - maybe even having no idea a guy was up there if she’s looking at the guy by her door.
That doesn’t excuse it but I think in dinner table chats there’s a difference between cold blooded terrorist planning to kill and simply a jittery poorly informed moron that put herself in a terrible spot trying to be a hero

While true, an adult would have to know that hitting the gas while someone is in front of your vehicle could cause injury or death - no?
I’m not saying that she went there to kill someone, but she HAD to know that was a possible result when she hit the gas.

Isn’t it time to go beat your sister? Or did you already knock her out for the night.
Maybe ICE used their new tech to MAKE her car surge forward! Then shot her in the face as a warning to the others.
Or, maybe it was a black officer was wuz raysis.
Or. Maybe. She was trying to get away and the agent happened to be in front of her car. Since, you know, intent doesn’t always equal action.

Fleeing is illegal, and it is more illegal if you have to drive into an ICE agent to do it, which she did. And if he had been a mind reader, he would have known she was fleeing, but instead, all the information he had was that a criminal suspect was driving her car into him at the moment.
