I wish Trump was the party. He's too divisive. There's a lot of good Trumpism but Trump is losing the suburban vote in many areas of the country. His divisiveness lost to Biden even though Biden is an inept moron. Republicans need another candidate with some Trumpisms but not Trump.

Youngkin will lose in a landslide because the Dems will get their vote out and the race will not be close. VA is a blue state and the GOP is wasting time and money running a candidate. The Dems know they will win and will use the results to refute a Republican wave in the midterms. The GOP is headed for a classic failure.

Virginia has to be one of the worst states in the Country for essentially one metro area controlling the entire state. Only ones worse to me is Chicago controlling the rest of Illinois (most of Illinois is rural and red but it simply doesn't matter) and NYC controlling the rest of New York State (again most areas are red but it doesn't matter simply due to NYC's size).
NYC and Long Island really should be their own state. Sure it would be a guarantee of 2 Democrat Senators but that could be offset as then New York State would have a great chance of replacing 2 Democrat Senators with 2 Republican Senators.
Going back to Virginia though. Virginia is hopeless as DC and NOVA control the state and could largely care less about the rest of the state.
The western counties in Virginia on or west of I-81 should really be a part of West Virginia. The far far western counties (Marion, Abingdon, Bristol) in Virginia west of I-77 should really be a part of Kentucky.
