The House vote was 258 to 169 with 39 Republicans joining the Democrats ... The bill was supported by all members of the Senate Democratic caucus and 12 Republicans.

Why do we even fricking vote?

55% of Republicans support this legislation, but only 20% of the GOP Congressmen and 25% of GOP Senators voted for the bill.

Why? Because the party primary process guarantees nomination of the most extreme candidates.

I would submit that this vote demonstrates that GOP legislators DO NOT vote the desires of the majority of their constituency, but instead the desires of a loud MINORITY of their constituency.

Did they support the legislation specifically or just the right to gay marriage generally.

If the latter, I'm not sure you can equate that to this performative shot at the right complete with a snarky name targeting traditionalists.

My apologies, I thought this was your view of what this bill does:

Force churches to accept same sex marriages or lose your exemption.

Are there any states that still ban interracial marriages? If not then why put this in the bill?
As recently as 2016, a Mississippi wedding venue refused to host an interracial wedding, citing the "Christian faith" of the owner. LINK

All of a sudden, they’d be all about the 10th Amendment.

Us smart figs don't get married.

It's my position that divorce attorneys are behind gay marriage

-No matter how many bogus bills you perverts get passed

-No matter how hard you try to convince the people of this country that your sick and perverted lifestyle should be normalized

-No matter how hard you try to destroy Christianity for the sake of advancing your cause and gaining the acceptance you crave so desperately it will never be enough to win the acceptance of the majority of people and more importantly it will never be enough for you perverts to gain acceptance in the eyes of God for your sins. That's what you sickos need to carry on and that acceptance will never truly happen no matter how determined you are to pursue it. In the end you will live and die a lonely broken existence. Homosexuality is a sin. Pedophilia is a sin. It is written by God and nothing you do can change it. No matter whether you try to change people's beliefs through trivial rationalizations or force its acceptance on people at the point of a gun you will not win.

So go ahead and celebrate your stupid bogus bill and go out and start trying to force every church in this country to marry you and accept you under the threat of government persecution and financial destruction but in the end you will always lose. God always wins.

71% of Americans support same-sex marriage

I think that is a "majority," but please check my math.

I didn’t realize a wedding venue choosing a client was the same as a state banning marriage. Is that the claim you’re going with?

Pardon my ignorance on the topic but don't a large majority of states already have this legal? What exactly is this changing?

Or is it another feather in the cap of virtue signaling?

Just out of curiosity - exactly where in the Constitution of the United States does congress find federal authority to define, recognize, or in any other fashion regulate marriage?

9th and 10 Amendments could be used to good effect to nullify this legislation if (when) it is passed.

It's virtue signaling under the guise of providing a legislative backstop for Obergefell. It's meat to the lefty base and a flex against Christians and the right.
