No, this is wrong. You consume media voluntarily. Anytime you hear the opinion of someone transmitted through media, it is because you have made the conscious choice to hear it.
Take personal responsibility for the media you choose to consume and stop blaming others for your own ennui.
The problem is this is the catch-22 that you are joining the left on. When conservatives stop listening to bullshite opinions and stop consuming their products, they are accused of being PC police or whatever bullshite. Now, we all know that the left doesn't know what terms mean, so they say whatever, but the point is, conservatives can't win in this type of shell game.

No, but...

Thinking someone shouldn't burn the flag and saying "I'm going to beat him up" IS "being PC police."
and also...
quote:
Thinking someone shouldn't sit for the Anthem and saying "I'm not going to watch any more games he's playing in, matter of fact, I think we should boycott the 49ers" is also "being PC police."
Both of these I've heard/read on many occasions.

Ok #1 just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion that doesn't make them stupid, and #2 I think this idea that just because someone becomes famous they suddenly have a responsibility to not express their political options whenever THEY deem it be appropriate is completely asinine and yes it is a form of political correctness that you're pushing.
So why does the left seek to get anyone they disagree with fired, like, for instance, Curt Schilling?

The left interjects their politics into neutral areas with unbelievable audacity. The right reacts. There is no moral equivalence.
The left thrives on being provocateurs. Well when you provoke someone there is usually a reaction.

I just don't see why people give their words some magical property as being important.
The clowns are there for dancing.

many of whom will follow the opinion blindly because they like how good a player is. Im betting a good amount of people voted for Hillary solely off the fact that Lebron endorsed her
You have absolutely nothing to support that claim, and even if you did it's honestly no different than someone voting for whoever just because Rachel Maddow says so or their relatives say so.
It comes off like you're just mad that more celebrities aren't conservative

But I thought no one gave a shite what entertainers and athlete's thought and they should just stick to their day job in silence.

Expected response from the most pompous arse on PT.

And as liberals are quick to tell us, people can do whatever they want, it just doesn't insulate them from non-governmental consequences. So if Kaep wants to reduce the amount of money he will make and make himself untouchable for NFL teams, that's his right.
He may have cut years off his career. He could easily have bounced around in the back up/potential starter market earning 8-12m a year sometimes to do almost nothing. He's radioactive to about half the teams in the NFL if I had to guess, and some of the ones where he could probably play aren't going to need his services for at least a few years because they're set at that position.
I respect his poor financial decision. Definitely hard to fault a guy for stating his opinion to achieve almost nothing for himself and cost himself millions of dollars.

The difference is Republicans don't try to silence these people. Sure they may get pissed off at them, but they don't actively try to stop their right to say it.

Nope.
Do you think this board would praise or denigrate an entertainer who spoke against Obama? Easier yes or no question.

Because we live in a cult of mass consumption and culture that elevates those who entertain us. I know I'm guilty of this to some extent.

That is why my general response in any thread where a celebrity gives their opinion on anything right or left, I post:
"Who cares. The clowns are there to dance for my entertainment."
And then I don't revisit the thread.

This is the height of smugness. Something so many on the right claim the left has sole domain over.
They are human beings and Americans, no different than you or me.
