while it is a bit ridiculous. Many people who you do say "Thank you for your service" also never did anything remotely close to storming Omaha beach.

I find it irritating about half the time. I know it tells you to say "thank you for your service" right there on the monitor when I'm paying for my stuff. Can I just get my discount and be on my way? Do we have to pretend that you or the store really give a shite?
