I agree that's the only way to assure a pro-American regime. Unfortunately, the Iranians have had 47 years to war game that scenario.

It's why they say (who knows if it's true) they seized our embassy...to stop another CIA-led coup.

Only difference would be you don't need to be approved by the ayatollahs to appear on the ballot.

Thanks. That's a good point.

No it failed due to the Shah and his brutal regime.

Creating another Shah will end up with another similar, brutal regime, which will eventually collapse to an oppositional force who will take over.

The fact you are running with 90% Shia shows your ignorance. That is like saying the Russian population is 99% communist! If you want to survive in Iran without severe repercussions you better claim to be Shia!

Ah, I see the “Iranians aren’t Muslims” talking point is raising its head again in this thread.

I was just getting information from official sources, including this 2023 assessment from our State Department. True, it relies on what the Iranian government reports. You think the State Department would express its doubts if they existed.

US State Department-Religious Freedom in Iran

quote:

The U.S. government estimates the population at 87.6 million (midyear 2023). According to Iranian government estimates, Muslims constitute 99.4 percent of the population, of whom 90 to 95 percent are Shia, and 5 to 10 percent are Sunni.

Always willing to learn. How do you think we establish an Iranian regime that is pro-American?

Apparently, the area of Iran being Muslim for almost 1400 years and specifically Shia for 500 years didn't count, and that all happened in the last 47 years only...because that's what intelligent people think.

why must the united states be in the regime change business at all? look what it did for syria, libya, iraq, and ukraine. zelensky should have sued for peace years ago but we stopped that because we are using ukraine as a proxy to take russia down. as they say, to be an enemy of the usa is dangerous. to be a friend of the usa is deadly. venezuela will get nothing from the regime change that just happened. they lost their gold and currently losing their oil. as trump says, to the victor belong the spoils. that quote explains current usa foreign policy.

But, they were secular, peaceful and pro-America until about 50 years ago.

It was in someone's best interest to fund that revolution to take Iran out of America's column. Within a year, the Soviets invaded Afghanistan.

*It's silly to suggest there are no such things as coincidences. Of course there are coincidences. Coincidences happen all the time. I just don't trust them.

That's because they were globalist puppets and the US/UK engaged in a coup to ensure that.

That purported secular window was a very brief period in time also, and the entire Muslim world has changed since then. There's no reason to think Iran wouldn't have followed the path of a country like Egypt who also was much more moderate in the past.

Ignorants are conflating the current regime with being Shia and/or Muslim, because they're retarded. It's an NPC meme.

We engaged in the 1953 coup largely for Cold War reasons. If the USSR reacted and helped the 1979 response to our coup, it wouldn't be shocking.

Lots of our current issues flow from mistakes during the Cold War. The lesson is the CIA fricks up a lot more than it shows competency, which creates lots of conflicts for CIA-based CTs.

Well, it is a simple fact that both the world and most Iranians would be better off today if the revolution hadn't happened and the Shah's son was in charge.

look at the regime change that took place in syria. the usa/israel installed a former isis warrior to be the leader of syria. isis is sunni. sunni hates shia. iran is shia. the reason for that was to stop the flow of weapons from iran to hezbollah in lebanon. we didn't put the isis guy in there to benefit the syrian people but to benefit israel who supports isis.

I agree with you completely. I'm VERY old school: NO foreign entanglement.

It seems obvious, however, that regime change IS the policy we are pursuing. I was curious how people thought that would happen.

As usual, well articulated and supported by hard facts.
