Regime Change: How do we get a favorable one in a country that is 90% Shia Muslim?

It seems clear that the goal of the strangulation of Iran is regime change. No one expects a deal with the current regime to be worth anything.
Is the plan to have an interim puppet leader of Iran..and then delay elections...like we have in Venezuela? The push for the son of the Shah seems to have died down.
It seems foolish to expect Iranians to elect a pro-American government. What do you think the plan is?

Shia are historically more tolerant and the general population despises the regime.
Maybe not favorable but we could easily end up with one that isn't Death to America, and that's good enough.

He was only a serious contender to himself. If he had any balls, he'd be in Iran rallying his own troops and creating an uprising.
It's easy to sit on your couch in Londonstan or wherever he is and say what should be done. Meanwhile, his people are dying.

You know very little about Iran if you think they are 90% Shia. You know very little about Iran if you don't think they are longing for the USA to either arm them or march in and kill the Shia leaders. Yeah the Shia leaders that convinced YOU that Iran is 90% Shia.

Iran has been predominantly Shia Muslim for over 500 years

Fair point. I know they tolerate Judaism (synagogues and a Jewish member of their legislature), but it doesn't seem like much else.

According to the Iranian government it's 99 percent.
But according to many other sources, surveys and studies it's below 50 percent.
It is illegal in Iran to convert from Islam.

Yeah crazy how all those Shia muslims are wanting arms so they can blow the heads off of their spiritual leaders. You are right. My bad. I was under the mistaken belief that when the IRGC put a gun to your head and asked if you were Shia that might have skewed the results a bit.

They already have elections. Only difference would be you don't need to be approved by the ayatollahs to appear on the ballot.

Why are you ignoring the previous 450 years?
The Shah was a practicing Shia Muslim
