I agree. It's ridiculously undiplomatic. Five year olds have more tact.

It would be undiplomatic if it were said in a diplomatic scenario.

It was a private discussion. People talk like real people when they are in private.

Are you different? Does you private talk have the same measure of 'diplomacy' as your prepared statements to be publicly orated??

I think in closed quarters among peers, he should be able to say pretty much what he wishes without having "people" with "agendas" making it newsworthy.

No damage occurred due to Trumps statement. The only POTENTIAL damage occurred because someone from that meeting felt the need to leak what was said. I wonder what motivation was behind that?

End of thread.

Whenever someone says “regardless of politics” you know they are about to bash Trump.

I'm not "on the left." I'm probably more of an actual Conservative than you, not that you know what that means. That doesn't mean that I have to like this President or support his actions.

It's not about words hurting. It's about being a statesman. It's about acting like the leader of the fricking free world, not a drunk teenager.

"Y'all" isn't a word, by the way. It makes you look uneducated.

That's all fine. It wasn't just his cabinet there though. He shouldn't expect those from another party to keep this sort of thing private. If he did, that's just ignorant.

I try to not be inflammatory, regardless of who I'm talking to, unless it's my closest friends. Some of these people weren't Trumps closest friends, or even members of his cabinet. You have to use some common sense.

They're shitholes. Sorry, truth hurts

The fact that these countries are shitholes is not the issue

The issue is he legitamately asked "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here"

Which is a pretty stupid fricking question, whether it was said in public or behind closed doors.

All the liberal wrangling over this AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN will backfire and push them further away from mainstream Americans.

You have to think Trump knew this would get leaked, and that the MSM would eat it up hook line and sinker. And by eating it up reveal they don't give a crap about Americans who founded, created and built the country into the last Superpower.

This is gonna backfire on so many people and publications and politicians and public figures.

Even if comments are kind, they will still be labeled obtuse at the very least.

I'm not a liberal.

I'm not a limp-wristed pansy. I've had my share of fist fights and team sports.

I'm not a Trump hater, either. But what he said was wrong and ill-advised.

Or else what?

Part of being a leader is speaking your mind and having a goddamn ballsack. Something that was missing in the White House in the previous administration.

Trump "said" (we don't even know if it's true) what's on millions of American minds and also the minds of actual immigrants. Who leave because they know their country is a shithole.

My father's family came from France to New Orleans 300 years ago.

My mother's family came to America from England almost 400 years ago.

Some of you are beyond help. As the leader of one of the most important countries on Earth, you have to display some semblance of tact.

Not to mention that, for those of us who actually travel internationally, I know that doesn't apply to most Trump supporters, we don't want to be laughed at because some of you chose to elect a reality tv star and life long con man to the highest office in the land.
