Navy Seal Mike Day
"Dazed and confused, the skilled operator switched to his sidearm and started re-engaging the insurgents, killing the rest. Day had been shot a total 27 times, 16 found his legs, arms, and abdomen. The last 11 lodged into his body armor.

Nevertheless, Day remained in the fight and cleared the rest of the house before walking himself to the medevac helicopter located close by."

What do you base your conclusory statement on? Actually, I know -- pure fricking ignorance.

You fire until they are incapacitated to the extent they no longer present a threat -- and you don't have the luxury of them having a physical between rounds.

It is entirely possible for the first round to be ultimately fatal, and yet not immediately incapacitating.

"Why can't officers just shoot suspects in the leg, a smaller target that results in hitting a major artery causing the person to bleed out? im sure theyre less likely 2 die if they just shoot there"

he could have shot the knife out of her hand instead.

TD disappointed me as this thread was nearing the end of the second page before someone mentioned this well known tactic of Hollywood. I've never seen the tactic fail to work.

be fair, that girl had a pretty large target on her backside.

Case by case basis. That girls arse was center mass.

You guys think that’s bad? Some guy told me throwing the gun would’ve been a better option. The fricking gun

The old failure drill.

As far as the three or so guys in this thread who have no clue what they’re talking about (beepnode, tucoco, Celtic dog), that naive ignorant bubble you’re living in might burst one day.

Mine are, ammo is entirely too expensive to miss.

It is terrifying how many people believe shooting the legs is a viable solution. Every time I hear someone make this claim I cringe so hard.

Always comes up in the gun control debate with my liberal friends. It's as if people don't understand that bullets can ricochet and hit innocent bystanders or hell, that legs have major arteries in them .

I'll just add my little 2 cents, like I did when the mask issue started last year, and it is this.

What would "The Duke" do? (John Wayne).

Not worth it. Places will burn. The cop will have to hide in a cave for 5 years.

It was worth it to the girl that was about to get stabbed to death.

I love this idea, make leg shots a version of 'less lethal' force equivalent to pepper spray, riser etc

Wrong. You obviously have zero knowledge of tactical situations, situational awareness, threat assessment nor use of force.

Dirty Harry. The original movie. Eastwood shoots the bad guy initially in the foot while he is running away. Half way across a football field (I believe) in the foot he is using to run. With a 44 Magnum. Held one handed.

A. That’s not believable.

B. Side note in the movie. The killer goes on to kill more and run around San Francisco. On a foot that was just shot with a 44.

We know from TV & movies that they can shoot guns & knives out of peoples hands.

But the racist pig chose to just shoot a precious little girl in cold blood.

smh

I saw the leg shooting thing and piss poor training of cops. and only one sane individual responded with that's a smaller target and other people around. Less damage actually shooting the body.

If it was your daughter/sister/mother/wife/GF about the be stabbed, you would want the cop to empty the magazine into the attacker.
