of the ~300,000 new hires at the Fortune 100 between 2016 and 2021, only 6% went to straight white men.

I've been out of the corporate world for 20 years, has it really got that bad?

How do they know that the white guys they hire aren’t straight? Offer them a cock to suck during the interview?

I really dont see how this doesn't end with white males fighting back harder eventually. Not sure if that is things like Texit gaining ground again or what, but no way Americans bend over and take it forever like England

I've been flat out told I couldn't be hired because I was a white guy, twice.

Bloomberg did an article a few months back on post Floyd to now, the numbers at Fortune 500 companies are even worse than that. Thanks to DEI

It’s tough. Where I work, our most recent two investment analyst roles were filled with a half white half Taiwanese guy and a Ukrainian woman refugee. The roles before that two white women. And this is a conservative company.

I'm a manager in the corporate realm and I've had three openings that I've had to hire in the last 18 months. I was told by my manager to only focus on hiring racially diverse candidates and women. I found a great candidate for one of the roles who is a white man, and while they didn't say no to hiring him, I did have to write a long justification and go through three rounds of HR governance defending the hire. The other two candidates that I hired that were women required no justification and were sent an offer letter the same day a decision was made.

They aren't mandating that white men not be hired, they are just making it very, very onerous to hire them.

I prefer "The Sin of Empathy: Compassion and Its Counterfeits" by Joe Rigney.

Allie Beth Stuckey is fine, but sometimes she comes across a bit hyperbolic.

Not cap, here is article with sources:
LINK

quote:

The overall job growth included 20,524 White workers. The other 302,570 jobs — or 94% of the headcount increase — went to people of color.

quote:

At companies where overall employment shrank in 2021, White workers made up 68.5% of the losses, another 16.5% were Black, 9.7% were Hispanic and 2.3% were Asian.

We are being replaced.

Both my situations were a few years back before DEI. Back then it was called affirmative action. It's been around a lot longer than young people realize.

It is a form of overt racism but it has been accepted by the public as the 'good kind' of racism.

I"m a hiring manager and I was flat out told that I was NOT ALLOWED to hire anyone that has a penis that identified as a man. I could only hire people with multiple colors in their hair that identified as non-binary.

Then I tried to hire ONE white guy with a family and I had to fly to DC and go in front of Congress to testify that he was qualified for the job. Only then was I given the green light to offer him the job.

Let the upvotes rain down.

Yes.

At one point pre-covid I was told flat out by the head of HR (euphemistically titled "Head People Person") that I was not allowed to hire any white males until corporate goals related to DEI were met.

DEI was law and that was before H1B really took off and wiped out the hiring market post covid for technical roles.

I went through that shite when I graduated from college a long time ago.

My chosen profession, broadcast journalism, was dominated by white males so every GD company in the country felt like they had to catch up by hiring blacks and females.

It took much longer than it should have to find a job.

The problem with H1B is that most of the roles they hire for are not actually roles we don’t have qualified people here for. They just artificially suppress wages, if the market was $150k salary, how do you compete with a Indian who will do it for $100k and then can’t leave the job in a couple years if they don’t get promoted, because they would lose their visa?

High paying white collar work for white men is extremely difficult right now. It doesn’t help most consulting firms are (rightfully) feeling the squeeze and doing hire freezes. The positions being filled are going to protected, 1st class citizens

I feel for those under 25 if you went to college and not trades. You are going to have it extremely rough in this era.

Getting hired isn't really the issue ... its getting promoted.
