23,590,000 people work for the government (not including the military).

It’s not enough.

I don’t care if you take me “seriously”

I find it interesting that none of you can answer when it’s appropriate to lay off government workers

Why aren’t you answering his question?

When is it appropriate in your view to fire workers, either private or govt?

Because you strongly imply in this thread that you think people should have a right to a given job

I don’t think 4cubbies grasps that jobs are a means to an end, not an end in itself.

A weird notion that comes from the left is the idea that apparently jobs just simply must exist. It's like you said. They don't seem to get that the reason why an organization hires somebody is because they need something done and they've decided they can afford to pay somebody else to help with it. Whether you're a two-man ice cream shop it has gotten busy enough to maybe warrant hiring a third person part-time or a giant Corporation the same thing applies.

The problem with thinking that job is simply must exist is that you can then ignore any possible employment repercussions of your stupid policies. Because if your policies make Jobs go away and it must be the company's fault!

Why exactly are you so much more outraged at federal workers losing jobs than when private sector workers lose their jobs every day?

Because the government employees in this specific case weren't supposed to have lost their jobs. And since the government belongs to the people, we have every right to demand accountability. Whoever made this error is the embodiment of incompetence and probably represents the waste we want out. This massive screw up warrants termination IMO.

As far as the private sector, it is just that..."private". Unless you're a shareholder, it would be weird for anyone to cry over what a private citizen does with his business.

The hyperventilating at this story is pretty good circumstantial evidence of just how big a fight lies ahead to make fedgov anything approaching reasonable

It’s nearly insurmountable

Who is actually espousing this? I haven’t seen anyone claim any of those things. At least not in this thread.

Well let’s hold those responsible to account once we finish going after the thousands of people who created the situation requiring the effort to begin with

This happens in RIFS all the time dude

Literally all the time

And we put up with it because?????

Trump should continue cutting waste and firing idiots who do these kinds of mistakes. The fact that there isn't more outrage is the reason why the government keeps getting away with wasteful spending and inefficiency.

she sees gov't jobs as an entitlement. she mostly cares about the people and allows herself to get caught up in the emotion. she is employed by the local gov't so it most likely hits close to home.

You did when you said it was immoral to fire people indiscriminately.

None of your experience included JOBS PAID FOR BY TAX DOLLARS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RELEVANT.

Jesus three tittied christ. You people REFUSE to stop using your private sector experiences and pretending like government jobs should be treated equal.

In no way shape or form should they, other than the obvious shite like discrimination. If your job is paid for by the FORCEFUL taking of our tax dollars, it should by default be held to the highest levels of scrutiny.

I will say I’m a strong advocate for creating government enclaves for conservatives to reside like democrats have successfully done for decades.

Watching them call for the elimination of waste in the administrative state would be hilarious
