In 1933 Roosevelt required that all citizens and banks had to turn their gold over to the Federal Reserve in exchange for paper dollars at the set rate of $20.67 (later raised to $35) per ounce. That gold is worth $4450 per ounce today. What is your dollar worth?

Glad I bought my gold when I did at around $1,200 an ounce. Should have bought more though.

Meh.
It’s not even a trillion dollars with if gold in there.
Call me when it gets to 203 million ounces. Then find me 36 more forts just like it and we can settle a debt.
That tells you just how much we’ve pissed away on “programs.”
