Rand Paul: I can't support a bill with the largest debt increase in US history

When Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017, I proudly cast my vote in favor. I supported those tax cuts then, and I support making them permanent today. I also support the newly proposed tax cuts that appear in the budget bill, such as no tax on tips.
But the House-passed version of the budget bill also includes a $4 trillion increase in the debt ceiling, which should serve as a blinking warning light indicating that out-of-control spending will continue. If Congress fails to address its reckless spending, it is only a matter of time before an avalanche of calamities falls, including an inevitable future tax increase. To unleash the full dynamism of America’s free enterprise system, Congress should extend the tax cuts without a multi-trillion dollar increase in the debt limit.
quote:
The 2017 tax cuts were not some abstract, theoretical economic exercise. They let workers, families and small businesses keep more of what they earn. Congress doubled the standard deduction, lowered individual and corporate tax rates and provided key incentives for investment.
The tax cuts produced historically low unemployment, increased wages and strengthened small businesses. The economy responded exactly as free-market advocates have long argued; lower taxes support an environment in which the private sector thrives, jobs are created and innovation accelerates. Americans were better off because they, not the government, determined how to spend a greater share of the money they earned.

A little math for people that don't fully grasp our $30 Trillion Debt.
A million seconds ago was May 23rd
A billion seconds ago was 1993
A trillion seconds ago was 30,000 B.C.

So he's voting against tax cuts and cuts to medicaid in the Biden budget.

Increasing the debt ceiling isn’t increasing the debt. Just because the ceiling is 4 trillion doesn’t mean that is what the actual debt would be. But Rand Paul also bitches about US tariffs but never mentions the tariffs, non-tariff barriers that the US faces. I trust Mike Lee and Rick Scott the most out of the fiscal hawks. They want cuts but also appear to be more reasonable than Paul and Johnson.

Doesn't the Federal govt get about $3.5T every year in revenue?
$3.5T takes us all the way back to like 110,000BC.

It would be like issuing a new credit card to someone already buried in consumer debt.

He’s principled. I don’t have to agree with every stance. Debt is the main problem right now.

Anyone caring about the debt now is a commie bot.

1- Cutting Medicaid
2- Keeping taxes at it's current level
3- Cutting spending of the Biden Budget.

Please, explain what the inept Congress in DC has ever done that causes you to believe they wouldn't drive debt to the limit??
