The problem is the sanctuary city mayors. If they order their city police to stop any deportations what do you do? If the national guard shows up and the mayor tells the cops to stop them I would think the police would say: 'frick you' to the mayor.

That's not what they do.
They don't cooperate, but they don't openly "stop" the feds from doing their job. It's not like they are going to fight about it.

Rand Paul has been consistent on this position and positions like it for many years.
He is VERY anti-militarization of police, of which he sees this as an extension of.
Whether you agree or disagree never wavers on this issue

I certainly don't want to pay for them to fly home commercially. Stick them on a C-5 and let our military fly them to their country, along with a compliment of certified badasses and hardware, in case their country doesn't want to take them
I'm not being hyperbolic when I say, no thanks.
They should be released at the southern border.
Mexico has no problem allowing its cartels to help facilitate the mass migration of illegals into our country, now let them deal with the problem of escorting them back the way they came.
Mexico is supposed to be our ally and should have stopped the caravans from entering their northern border.

Rand Paul is also against building the wall.
He’s also for open borders.

There is nothing wrong with using regular Army in the US. Hell, it is even in the oath of office “defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC”
Although in reality we have foreign invaders that threaten our sovereignty.

Why not just have Greg Abbott use the Texas National Guard as a hub for deportations?
Both parties have already accepted transporting illegal immigrants across State lines. Ship them to a location in Texas where we have the most consecutive miles of border wall and deport them to the center of it.
No other state will need to be involved.

Rand Paul is a cuck on immigration. Always has been.

I’m with him. I think it’s a terrible idea but I really don’t think it will come to that.

We have cartels, armed gangs, career criminals prone to violence - all from foreign countries, and they invaded our nation. They are enemy combatants.
Rand is wrong on this one. If the Chinese parachuted into DC, you bet your arse he'd say the military is required. This situation is no different.
You must have units with civilian LE, National Guard (deputized as US Marshals) and active military, mostly intel people. When you go somewhere and round people up you send Americans with civ LE and you send non-Americans with the military intel people. They get questioned, interrogated, and transferred to military custody as enemy combatants and then they are either detained for the duration of the operation to clean up the nation, then repatriated, or repatriated immediately.
If the intel suggests some place is all foreign, armed, bad guys - even inside the US - then the military is not just justified, but a mandatory move. If Rand doesn't want the civ LE militarized, then make sure the military takes on military missions, and not civ LE.
This isn't hard and Rand is being weak on this one.

I agree with Rand and I don't think it's even necessary.
Use law enforcement to pick up the known criminals, and then enforce the laws on the books and most will self deport.
Plenty of strategies that don't entail domestic military operations.
Military to protect the border? I do support that.
spot on
and it would set a terrible precedent that tyrannical leftists would love to use against us someday

I predicted Rand would be the main thorn in Trump Peron's hide this go around. He never endorsed the orange one.

My first reaction to this was self deportation.
You don't get self deportation with sweet talk and maybes.
I do not expect the regular army to be going at the bayonet looking for people. I could see logistics transportation and infrastructure being used a lot. JMG.

the Retired Border & some law enforcement officers said they would volunteer to round them up, let that be a task force in itself.
then, let the Gov’t hire a bunch of Mercenary Spec Ops Teams and assign them to the States and Cities we want to clean up first.
Red areas first of course & then work over to the Blue States!

For American citizens and apprehending them for federal crimes? No.
But for illegals? Yes.
