What. Has. Rand. Paul. Accomplished. In. His. Quest. To. Hold. Government. “Accountable?”

Be specific.

It really is as simple as this. On third and 4 and the coach calls a dive but as the running back you run a sweep right because you know better, you are a hinderance to the team and not helpful in winning the game. At that point your talent doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if the sweep would have had a better chance of success.

Good analogy

I call them what they are, libertarians. They’re not left but they’re also leaches on the Republican Party because they don’t have enough support for the libertarian party.

That's not what my comment he was responding to was about. It's about the dichotomy of ideas that seem to permeate the minds of many people.

If the government is corrupt and not to be trusted, why would be trust it in the incidents of killing American citizens blindly? If there is any time we should scrutinize the actions of the government, that's about as good of an example as I can think of.

Exactly! What voters demanded in Nov 2024 was outspending Biden, more debt, more government ownership of industry, and protecting the Swamp!

BS.

DHS got a $170 billion increase in the BBB.

The reasoning for the huge increase? We were told we were going to be deporting 14 million illegals.

Now it looks like that 14 million deportation number is not happening.

So you are saying Rand Paul is wrong in questioning where these funds are going to be spent?

So you guys think the federal government is a bunch of corrupt scumbags but also think that we shouldn't hold the federal government accountable for their actions.

Come on.

You know the answer to that one.

If the particular government official in question is on your Team, whatever they want to do is justifiable.

If not, then they are a corrupt scumbag.

Populism is very destructive, but it's not hard to understand.

Because it’s a glaring strawman

There’s a difference between working to make people’s lives better through reform and compromise, and bloviating endlessly about your political purity -which helps no one.

These people should probably just stop identifying as conservative and admit they're populists.

They would support the most liberal policies imaginable at the drop of a hat if they were ordered to

Worst case scenario is we turn into the Brits with the police state enforcing against speech

I correct it every time I see it.

They already have. They've defended tariffs, the federal government buying into private businesses, dangling tax exemptions in front of certain groups during the campaign.

It’s the nexus of the complaint against him. He’s very good at believing things and making speeches. What he’s affected is much harder to quantify.

It’s like a salesperson who is great with sales pitches but somehow never meets his quota.

We don’t send legislators to DC to pontificate. A lot of them don’t really understand that.

It is fun to see people defending the speechifiers.

I agree with you there. I'm just saying that in this instance I don't think that he is wrong. We should hold all branches of the federal government accountable. Especially when they're killing American citizens. That being the one exemption to many people here seems like the most insane shite of all time.

We can and should still continue deportation operations and we can do that while simultaneously investigating poor leadership, poor training, and poor conduct by enforcement officers.

Trump is single-handedly destroying conservatism in Congress. He’s a fricking leftist tool.
