Response to Rispone Personal Attack Ads:

It’s sad that my Republican opponent felt like his only option was to create an ad full of baseless personal attacks that he knows aren’t true. This is the literal playbook that allowed John Bel to be elected four years ago. I’m sure his out-of-state consultants told him that he was so far behind he had to do this to win, regardless of what it could mean for our state.

We will continue to run a race aimed solely at John Bel, based on ideas and principles that are best for Louisiana. We will win this race, and we will turn this state around. Help is on the way.

Statement from Facebook.

I was a Rispone supporter but I'm undecided as hell right now after this stupid and baseless ad. I appreciate Rispone's call for a constitutional convention but if he can't respect the need for a united conservative base against the liberal incumbent, then I have no business voting for him.

Oh and MoneyG was dead on with this response in the other thread. Suggestion was actually an accurate prediction.

quote:

He should basically patronize Rispone for these comments and play the magnanimous card.

He should say something like "Rispone and I agree on a large number of issues, and I generally think he's a good person. But, it should be apparent to everyone that is getting poor political advice and playing political games. This election is too important to devolve into these childish games.

Rispone attacks Abraham! This is terrible.

I was an Abraham leaner until to you pointed out Rispone and the Constitutional Convention.

Back to Abraham. “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican”, Ronald Reagan.

Seriously, frick anyone that thinks Scott Angelle and Jay Dardenne burn the house down tactics is a good idea.

Vitter may have done everything he could to earn the loss but those two made damn sure Vitter had no hope of absorbing their voters and guaranteed JBE would win 2015.

frick a repeat of that in 2019.

Can you expand? I’m curious on what this means.

The biggest problem was not those two during the primary (it was a problem don’t get me wrong). The biggest problem was the supporting of JBE which solidified their supporters doing the same thing. I don’t see either candidate doing that this time around. Both have said they would support the other in a run off.

It's common sense and just shows how ignorant of basic political strategy Risponse is. Either that or he's just following someone who has no pulse on Louisiana politics. I'm pretty disappointed.

Abraham and no other politician is turning Louisiana around. It isn't a politicians job to turn shite around.

That is the people of this state as a whole practicing what they preach. Which we don't. We get the government we deserve and is why I will be voting for that douche bag Bel Edwards. We deserve him.

Ok cool.

Except for the fact that you actually have to keep JBE under 50.1% to make that happen.

Right now, Edwards is only several to few points away from winning outright in the first round and they both need to be concentrating their fire on Edwards.

The campaign manager for Rispone right now is calling that scenario a primary where candidates are vetted.

quote:

“Primaries are supposed to be about vetting candidates, and I believe this is part of the vetting process.”

A primary where Edwards has a decent chance to win outright and Rispone is attacking Abraham.

If Rispone spends millions of dollars and that can’t get him a spot in the runoff, then that’s on him and the card he’s dealt with.

But he still has a responsibility to be a team player towards putting a conservative in office.

Unfortunately, you are probably correct. I'll vote for Abraham if/when the time comes but Louisiana needs an economic miracle.

Louisiana cannot do anything with the shitty state constitution it has along with it’s terrible tax and crappy legal climate.

It’s the politicians job to fix that, not you the random joe blow.

Why didn’t Ralph Abraham dispute the charges and say it was a lie?

Or is it true?

Honest question

He doesn't want to antagonize Rispone's supporters. He needs them.

I don't get Rispone's tactics, it's almost like he's trying to be a spoiler for Abraham's chances. Early media barrage to draw in some conservative support, and then throw dirt at the other conservative choice. Like has been stated above, they can't afford that right now. They have to keep JBE's tally low enough to force a runoff, then unite completely to win.

Ralph Abraham was one of the first republican politicians to endorse Trump for the republican nomination and has been a steadfast MAGA member in the HOR.

Rispone is trying to present himself as the Louisiana version of Trump and hoping that the white boot wearing morons of south Louisiana believe him.

I can’t see this having the impact the attacks in 2015 had because there’s not a single person who is voting for Rispone that would vote for JBE in the runoff.

Boat, 2015 was such a mind frick for everyone that was unthinkable until it actually happened.

Vitter may have done himself no favors but Angelle and Dardenne did a lot of damage as they actually got to voters more than anyone expected. Everyone thought Vitter was going to win so they discounted their attacks not having much effect.

And that’s why we have to treat any sign of a repeat of that as a five alarm fire, no matter how small that sign may be.

Meanwhile, one of our remarkably absent statewide officials is finally paying attention to the race on Twitter....

quote:

Bill Cassidy, M.D. @BillCassidy

In just 3 days, our Republican candidates will be taking on Governor JBE on the debate stage in Baton Rouge! Don’t wait to get involved - We can’t afford another 4 years of a Democratic governor.

I think you missed the entire point of my post.

We have that constitution because of the government we have elected for how long now? Republican OR Democrat hasn't mattered.

Get it now?
