Exactly and I would be willing to bet that (D) and NeverTrumpers are encouraging this type of behavior behind the scenes until after the midterms.

Well, he doesn't want to blow up shite we'll end up paying to rebuild. I agree with you OP, but we've gotten ourselves into it half-assed [ by not wanting to put boots on the ground]. Personally, I don't mind putting troops in the country, thinking it would accelerate the 'hardest' phase, with an overwhelming occupation force. I still believe we could protect them well (but not as well as they are protected now).

But I'm just stating what I believe Trump and the administration is wanting -- enemy to quit; Iran charts a new course as a respectable neighbor and world citizen, all without nuclear ambitions.

You know what I mean but you are purposely acting like you don't to fit your narrative. If that's the best you got then you need to try and do better.

I've seen a few people make the case that the energy and fertilizer slowdown already baked in is borderline catastrophic. A blockade through the summer could blow the global economy to pieces, and that doesn't even take into account the strain on our forces

The other issue that seems to be constantly ignored is the state of Iran's current missile and drone arsenal. The DIA director testified to Congress last week that

"Marine Corps Lt. Gen. James Adams, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, told lawmakers that Iran "retains thousands" of missiles and one-way attack drones, which pose a threat to US and partner forces in the Middle East.

During testimony before the House Armed Services Committee on Thursday, Adams said that Iran had managed to preserve the munitions "despite degradations to its capabilities from both attrition and expenditure."

If they still pose a major threat to the other gulf states despite all of our bombing thus far then the current stand off and Trump hesitancy makes even more sense.

They will run the clock. Trump's backed into a corner on this because he was a fricking idiot to start it to begin with. And I dearly hope you are signed up to go "liberate" Iran when the ground troops have to be sent in. Pray Trump just quietly ends this farce.

i thought the entire point of this war or whatever you want to call it was to protect the iranian people from their oppressive regime who murderers them in the street for protesting? now we want to kill them all?

We have to kill them in order to protect them.

Just kidding. We don’t intend to bomb civilians, just military targets and perhaps some infrastructure.

Unfortunately I think my President is getting played. All they are doing is stalling to resupply the IRAG. You cannot take the words of a terrorist. They should have learned that shite from Afghanistan. I know that was Pedo Joe but the situation is about the same. These people want you dead. Hell they even tried to kill him.

I son’t understand what Iran should be negotiating.

We bombed them, quickly killed all their leaders, and you expect them to come to the table and say ‘please don’t kill us some more’?

We could not get what we wanted with bombs, what makes you think we will get it in words lol

Why would they want to? We started it

Even if that were true (it's not), the answer is obvious.

Because they'd like it to end.

If they haven't reached the point of wanting that, well...

Agreed.

Of course, that directly contradicts your claim earlier that we started this.

They DO NOT want to negotiate in good faith. They are just trying to drag this out and run out the clock.

Apply MAXIMUM pressure. Blockade. Bomb for a few more weeks and then see if they are interested in talking. If not rinse and repeat.

Now that the Bush carrier strike group has arrived it won't be long.

Israel has a couple of people infiltrated in every department, at every level. Just have those take out the troublemakers on Friday at 11:59 am.
