Finland joined NATO last year and now Sweden has overcome the final hurdle this week to join the alliance after 200 years of neutrality.

NATO is now completely staged along Russia’s western border. If Putin invaded Ukraine to deter NATO, I’m sure he now wishes he could go back to 2021.

This is a significant transformation in the alliance that will cut off Russia even more from the west and western values. It’s h fortunate for the people of Russia, but their fate is in Putin’s hands.

For those who believe in a strong European security alliance, this is a good move and a historic week. I believe this will allow America and western values to prosper for years to come.

This aggression was never actually about NATO.

That's just a Russian talking point among many, but one that took hold in the echo chamber so they doubled and tripled down on it.

Russia will remain a functioning intact country long after the USA has been destroyed from within.

For those who believe the world needs a good thermonuclear war, this has been a historic week.

I know we have short memories in America due to arrogance but remember how America reacted during the Cuban Missile Crisis? Now imagine what we would do today if Russia was openly encroaching on our border and putting bases in Mexico.

It's ridiculous to keep poking Russia like we are then getting mad when they poke back especially when we would invade Mexico with the quickness if roles were reversed.

"Functioning"

I have no doubt Russia survives and continues to be the backwater of Eurasia, as it basically always has been except for 50-ish years of Stalinism during the Cold War.

Russia always returns to their base level of poor, undeveloped, and mocked.

Putin said the opposite in the Tucker interview and laid out the whole timeline of NATO continuing to encroach on Russia.

How so? A difference in political opinion should be welcome in a free society, not suppressed.

I hear many on the right complain “the media” suppresses their views. Anyone who supports this site as an echo chamber for only like-minded views is just as much a part of the problem.

Those of us who served in the military and government when NATO was at its strongest know the value of the alliance.

I for one am happy to see it bolstered. It’s ironic that it took Putin to invade as the impetus.

This example just never makes sense. Mexico is one of our strongest allies for the very reason Russia started this conflict: trade.

The reason Russia has issues involves its unwillingness to join the modern world and enter into bilateral trade deals that are roughly impact both sides positively equally. I know we all joked about China being a-hole, but they have joined the modern world in a way Russia has refused. Russia is truly a-hole.

The irony is Russia's plan is to get butt-fricked in trade deals by China to survive this endeavor.

What is NATO? Why should Russia or any other country be afraid of small, useless European countries joining NATO?
What kind of support will Finland offer? Discounts on seafood for NATO soldiers?

It's a hypothetical is all but we already have historical evidence of how we would react thanks to the Cuban missile crisis.

Didn't reports just come out (not from Russia) that they are economically stronger now than before the invasion?

“ For those who believe in a strong European security alliance, this is a good move and a historic week. I believe this will allow America and western values to prosper for years to come.”

This statement is about as opposite as can be given current affairs going on.
