Russia will remain a functioning intact country long after the USA has been destroyed from within.

What Russia? The one that emerged in 1990? The 34 year old one? Russia is a dictatorship. Sure, there will be a dictator in Russia 50 years from now. But what does that mean about the continuation of the country? The land will still be there, but the dictator will be a different one, and his values will be whatever keeps him in power.

In the mean time, the values of the USA are the rights of the individual. These are weakening somewhat - although the left would argue that alphabet people gaining civil rights is strengthening individual rights - as government gets larger.

So while the USA is a country dedicated to principles, Russia is a country dedicated to keeping power. Saying that there will be a thug running Russia when the USA finally declines to the point of having our own thug dictator hardly compliments Russia.

The question was about Putin's fake propaganda about NATO aggression.
Good Lord

You people are 'special.'
Are you honestly contending NATO is no threat to Russia? Would your opinion be the same if you were Russian?

This is hard for me to understand, if the same situation was happening to the US in Mexico..... what does anyone think our response would be? Exactly the same as Russia's. It's easy to see and understand. Sure, Putin probably has other less than honorable reasons for the invasion, but the NATO continued aggressive expansion
provided the legitimacy to invade.

The US was FOUNDED in principles of freedom and liberty, but we aren't dedicated to those principles presently.

OMG!

I was reading in terror as I was agreeing with a RFK post! The whole it’s NATO’s fault Red Herring is an embarrassment to the right leaning cause. Russia is trying to reclaim the old Russian Empire/USSR borders.

But then, thankfully, RFK injected his normal ignorance, “I believe this will allow America and western values to prosper for years to come.”

The threat to western values in America is not coming from Putin and Russia; it’s coming from an internal conspiracy of liberals inside America!

The latter is true. The former is false. NATO was established as a deterrent vs the USSR. The USSR no longer exists.

It is sliding, and I abhor that, but it is not lost as you imply. I still have free speech; I still have the guarantee of a jury trial; I still pay a reasonable tax rate; no one can confiscate my property. We should not overstate the situation; it is still VERY good.
