They would have never flexed on Trump like that either. They know Joe is a huge bitch.

I believe you are correct. The Kerch Strait doesn't block Ukraine or the entrance to the Black Sea.

The Kerch Strait connects Russia and Crimea on the east side of the Black Sea. Ships don't have to enter the Kerch Strait to reach Ukraine.

Only way out of the Sea of Azov which is where Ukraines major ports are. Can't get out to the black sea and then the Med.

Correct but Odessa is not the only port where goods are shipped. Several on the Azov

Well, if you look at a map, it leaves one port as an option a long way from the Russian side of Ukraine... Closing the Strait does significantly impact aid and troops being sent directly to the area...

Oh 100%. It's not something to scoff at. Just pointing out that the OP article is wrong.

How many foreign war ships take port in a city in the Ukraine in a given year?

The Black Sea isn't exactly on the way to any place but those countries bordering the Black Sea (Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania, Crimea, Russia, and the Ukraine).

Were those foreign warships going to intervene in some land war between Russia and the Ukraine? No? Then this is just posturing.

How humiliating to see the US punked yet again. What a weak country.

Ukraine's 4 largest ports are all around Odessa.

Military aid and supplies. In addition to industrial material needed during war.

Putin Puts Naval Blockade On Ukraine

Misleading title.

quote:

Hours later, Putin took advantage of Biden's U-turn back by closing off the Kerch Strait between Crimea and Russia,

Closing the Kerch Straits only blocks shipping from reaching the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk. Commercial traffic to those Ukrainian ports has basically been shut off for years because Russia pulled a Huey Pl Long and built the Crimea Bridge too low to allow ocean-going ships from entering the Sea of Azov.

quote:

Putin blocks ALL foreign warships from reaching Ukraine for six months

1. More bluster from Putin. The US Navy finished its spring exercises with the Ukrainian navy back in March. There are no more naval exercises or port calls scheduled until the fall.

2. I would like to see Putin try to enforce it. A couple of Burke class destroys and a squadron or two of F-22s or F-35s based out of Turkey or Romania would destroy the Russia Black Sea Fleet in less than 24 hours.

Of course that is assuming POTUS has the spine to do a freedom of navigation run through international and Ukrainian territorial waters into Odessa which Biden does not have. So Putin will get away with his bluster.

From the link the "blockade" applies to military war ships. It seems that unless Russia is interdicting all shipping in the area to inspect its cargo, they're not stopping any military aid or supplies from being shipped to the Ukraine.

Moreover the country shares borders with Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland through which supplies may easily be brought in.

This is just posturing.

Read the rest of my post. The implication is the very thing we were trying to stop in WWII will come to pass in now - its our WWIII, except not a shot will be fired because the allies are all on the other side this time.

Wow! Not even a hundred days in office and Plugs has got us on the verge of a major nasty confrontation with Russia. Plugs blinked. Putin tells Plugs to back off, and Plugs complies. Clearly Putin respected Donald Trump. He does not respect Dementia Joe. Not good. Not good at all.

Looks like the Ruskies mean business.
