I disagree with #2. It was reported adequately on every single news outlet there was no action taken by the citizens or the family afterwards. It didn't stay in media because nobody pressed the issue.

There was a huge thread on this site where a lot of people justified it.

Honestly blacks should have taken up the mantle for this man and his family as well.

Good lord, you calling other people ignorant is laughable.

protect and serve is a police saying . the are public figures who are suppose to protect people not kill them. police brutality towards the black community has been an issue for years. alot of police treat black people with a huge indiffernce. I don't have kids but black parents having conversations with thier children on how to interact with police is a real thing. My parents never had to warn me about the police i am white guy. I have never been pulled over for the color of my skin. Never been judged by the police for the color of my skin.

I was speaking about police brutality against white people in general, not just with respect to this one incident. Generally speaking, police brutality against whites doesn’t score the same amount of “points” in the media as does police brutality against blacks. And that’s absolutely in part because there’s a political narrative to maintain.

I’d also like to see blacks not paint with a broad brush as they seek awareness on this issue. We need to make sure the good cops in the world aren’t put into harm’s way, or caused to become dispirited, or caused to leave the force, because of the sins of a small sliver of the police population.

What they want to stop is the racists joke

so is it ok for black comedians to say racists things? Is it ok for black athletes to say **** as a friendly word to each other? Are white people going around making racists jokes to black people? What the hell does this even mean?

quote:

the "pearl clutching", the looks they get by white people,

When you have the appearance of a criminal, regardless if you're white, hispanic, asian, or black, people are going to stereotype you. You want to walk down the street with tattoos all over your body, pants sagging and gold chains, people will assume you're a criminal. You want to dress like a normal human being who has a job, people are going to assume you're a normal human being who they have no reservations about, regardless of color.

and to have the same opportunities as everyone else.

i argued for hours one night with my cousin about this, who said blacks don't have the same opportunities as whites in this country, which is bull shite, especially in LA. Go to school, don't be a dumbshit and simply get decent grades and you can get TOPS. I understand the requirements are a bit harder now, but 20 years ago it was easy, and it covered your entire tuition. LA has the more universities than it knows to do with, so it is highly likely you can live at home and still go to school. thousands of people go through college while working to pay for their living. If you don't want to go to college, go work at a plant and you can easily get to the point where you're making 6 figures, if, and a big if, you actually work hard and you're a responsible adult. If you don't like where you're working, go somewhere else. white people are passed up for promotions and jobs all the time for less qualified people. Who cares, go work somewhere you'll be appreciated. i guarantee there's a better employer out there.

People that say they don't have the same opportunities as others are lazy, and excuse makers, and want everything in life to be handed to them and not have to work for it.

The first step to fixing your community is fixing your family. How is prejudice or police brutality stopping blacks from improving their families?

alot of police treat black people with a huge indiffernce.

How do you know this if you don't listen to the media ?

I don't have kids but black parents having conversations with thier children on how to interact with police is a real thing.

A lot of them don't listen to them. They run , argue or fight all of the time , ask any cop.

My parents never had to warn me about the police i am white guy.

But they should have , there was a thread on here the other day and nearly every person said their dad warned them about cops.

You weren't talking about Floyd , you made a generalization based on the media or a message board.

Go talk to a cop , it will open your eyes.

They riot without even knowing the truth (Michael Brown). The media is mainly responsible but people on social media are just as bad.
