Do we want to protect the anonymity of government whistleblowers, callers to crime stoppers or reports to child protection? Does the accused have the right to face the accuser in all of these instances?

If the WB qualifies to be protected. Sure.

In this case, he does not. The Dems are abusing WB statutes to protect a partisan hack and damage the president politically.

This is not the same as

callers to crime stoppers

But no. You can not be allowed to make claims from behind closed curtains and ruin people without the risks that comes with it.

That is KGB shite.

I would like to add that in a court case the person that reported the theft etc. does not need to be there to get a conviction. They just point the cops in the right direction. IF they are a witness that needs to be called then, they most certainly will be faced by the defendant.

Yes. But, the case before us today does not involve a "whistleblower" but a leaker.

There has to be a theft, etc.
THAT has to be established first, correct?

However the Obama administration handled whistleblowers is how whistleblowers should be handled.

After all, there was never a smidgen of corruption in his administration.

That is not what the statute calls for. The WB statute is about protecting a true WB from repercussions professionally not hiding their identity.

The message the left is giving the right is that anonymous attacks are acceptable.

The left will learn a hard lesson, the same way they learned a lesson from unleashing #metoo and #believeher. Bye bye Al Franken. Bye bye Weinstein. Bye bye Anthony Wiener.

When you can WB with no direct knowledge and with the ability to keep from being criticized, then you can lie about anything you want without consequences.

When a reporter says 'sources say' it means 'I just made up this shite.'
This is not a joke. This is what happens with "journalists" today.

Yes. Always. Every time.

You have the right to directly confront and examine you accuser. Without that right, there is absolutely no possibility of a fair trial.
