It is against everything we preach about the judicial system....
Do the crime, pay the time!

It has become this end-term spectacle on who gets out of trouble.....it is complete bullshite, IMO.

Were you upset about it before this Hunter pardon?

I share your sentiment. A lot of scumbags have been pardoned. So basically what the govt is telling us is if you have any obscure link to the president, you can in fact get special treatment.

Just remember what you are giving up.

No Jan 6 pardons. No pardon's for abuse of Judicial overreach. You are eliminating a check and balance on the Judiciary.

So, screw the whole system up, because of a corrupt Biden Administration?

I agree. It's goofy and banana republic-y.

If balance of power between the three branches and electing presidents and kings were the goals of the Founding Fathers, presidential pardons certainly don't seem to fit into the equation.

You sound like a dem in 2016 wanting to get rid of the electoral college.

I also posted this in another thread but it seems pertinent here too.

The president is a limited term, he will suffer political and social fallout for abusing pardons. This is preferred over the alternative which can result in long term and permanent overreach of the judiciary.

Yeah, let's just leave zero recourse for a runaway judiciary.

If used as a tool to mitigate dirty prosecutions it is completely fine. If you're screening your kid with a "blanket" pardon then you are doing more than just "protecting your son"

They should only be allowed for people who have actually been convicted of a crime. Hunter has free rein to break any federal law between now and December 31.

So you want unelected bureaucrats to have sole authority over their agencies? Talk about a deep state...
