So what's he actually doing about it? A tweet isn't worth the electricity required to transmit it if the administration isn't actually doing anything about it.

I read somewhere that one has not proven himself as a libertarian until he is hated by both the Right and the Left. I guess I've earned my libertarian stripes.

Either one believes in the capitalist system (warts and all), or one does not ... and it is certainly true that non-production of unprofitable drugs is a "wart" in the system. Nonetheless, I do believe in the system. You do not.

Such is life ... or death.

It's probably due to an FDA controlled market and lack of competition through regulation and not having a strong consumer advocate on your side. If we are going to live in the world of high regulations then we need a strong consumer advocate. If regulations did not exist then the free market could determine price more fairly.

Yep its the same reason I'm for net neutrality. If the government would regulate the shite out of this industry the free market would do what it was intended to do. Now we need government interference to fix it. Is it the right answer? No but it's better than what we have now.

I'm sure your belief system will remain this exactly when your doctor tells you you can survive whatever disease is killing you in the future...but the drug will cost you 100K.

I am also going to force companies to price their products as I think they should be priced, rather than acknowledging that the same product may have a different equilibrium price in different geopolitical markets.

Conservatism!!!!!

i think it is more about said drug companies selling the same product outside of the US at a much smaller cost. Just like the trade imbalance, why should Europe get subsidized by the US when it comes to prescription drugs.

I bet they can lower ours, and increase the EUs cost and still make plenty of money.....

Is it really a capitalist system if a large percentage of the customer base is allowed to set price limits, effectively fobbing off to the rest of the customer base things like paying for research and development, marketing, and providing profits to the company?

I just read an article that said France pays 67% less than the US for drugs, Germany 51% less, Italy 53% less, Spain 55% less, the UK 57% less, Canada 65% less, Japan 43% less, Australia 60% less, and a worldwide average of 56% less than Americans pay for the same drugs. The world is going in dry on Americans, letting us subsidize their healthcare while we drain the bank accounts of the sick and elderly in this country, and we're supposed to be good with it or die because capitalism?

It sounds pretty easy to me, without going socialist. Why don't we just pass a law that says we pay the same price as Canada for drugs? Isn't that essentially what the countries I've mentioned have done?

Liberals should love this kind of rhetoric, but instead they will do a complete 180 because of TDS. Sad.

Inflated by whose definition? You want European drug prices? Fine. You want their gasoline prices? 5.50/gal in Germany, 6.00/gal in France.
Comparing consumer prices for drugs in the U.S. to government subsidized prices in Europe is an exercise in futility.

Giant Cock Don is a genius.

After that tweet, all of the boards of directors of all these pharmas are catching the redeye to have an emergency meeting at their respective headquarters to figure out how to get the costs down for the American people.

No law or regulation needed.
