So what’s your stance on the ACA?
That it was one of the dumbest pieces of legislation in my lifetime and that it totally-wrecked the private health insurance industry. That it should find its way into the dustbin of history, but that a simple "repeal" is as foolish as the enactment. Why? Because the destroyed private health insurance industry is not in a position at this time to step back into its former position.

That the GOP in Congress SHOULD have had a template ready on Day One of the Trump administration to start a phased repeal, along with policies to TEMPORARILY assist private insurance companies in a return to sustainability of that market. That such assistance should have been phased-out in not less than two or three years.

That the current situation is as much a result of GOP failure as of Dem stupidity.

Next question?

This is a good point. This just might be the opening salvo. That is the way Trump works. He steps in, creates chaos and from chaos solutions are developed and implemented and the situation improves.
Huh, that's exactly how the Deep State does it, and for centuries the people have had the same reaction. That's how we got to this point.

So you work for big Pharma or are you the one receiving the same drug but getting it cheaper over-seas than here?

I can't tell.

Just someone who ACTUALLY believes in capitalism, even in those instances where it may not work to my own short-term advantage.

I am sure he will stay consistent and say the same about ACA. He is such a principled person, I would expect nothing less.

There is no reason Pfizer should be treating American customers differently than other global customers. We are not the world's piggy bank.

Yep. Look, I am sympathetic to the drug companies in a way. They spend BILLIONS doing R&D. It's not cheap inventing, researching, going through double-blind trials, getting FDA approval, etc. Other countries simply make clones of the drugs without contributing ANYTHING to R&D. Hard to enforce patents in China, for instance.

Hate on the drug companies all you want, but without them, we really wouldn't have much in the way of modern medicine. If they are giving their drugs away to other countries (especially 1st world countries) while jacking up prices here, that's wrong. But I suspect a lot of it comes down to piracy and IP theft. It's hard to invent these drugs, but easy to copy them.

You have to to be impressed with our current president. Nowhere does he mention price controls or any other means of government coercion.

He simply gives Pfizer and others in the industry the opportunity to ponder their wrongdoings and correct them.

I'm sure Trump would be fine if other countries did not have price controls on drugs and we Americans did not have to subsidize those losses from other countries. What we have right now is not capitalism.

Instead of guessing, why don't you take a look at my actual position, posted several minutes before this drivel.

I did.

Was kinda surprised, but in the end you were opposed to them getting rid of it, so, Yawn.

The drug companies price their products overseas at whatever point allows them to sell product and apply proceeds toward their significant development costs. US profits alone likely will not cover those costs on a timely basis.

Should POTUS take steps to "encourage" other nations toward removal of their de facto subsidies on pharma prices? Sure. He has plenty of tools available to do exactly that.

But forcing US companies to underprice their products in the domestic market is NOT a "capitalism" solution to that problem.

THAT is what you read in that post? That "phase-out while the insurance market recovers, with total repeal in a couple of years" equals "opposed to ... getting rid of it?" Just wow.
