Exactly. Sounds good, wont work.

If the federal income tax is abolished and the federal funds stop flowing from the federal government to states, state income taxes will necessarily increase. Which is the way it should be. I'd rather pay higher taxes locally than higher taxes nationally.

Brilliant.
Issue a blanket pardon for all U.S. citizens for past, present and future crimes involving income tax law.
Unless you were pardoned by Biden.

That takes more than an executive order. That takes a constitutional amendment.
Wrong. It takes congress passing a law. Not an amendment.

I don't disagree, but as long as you have more than 12 states that are net takers, it's dead in the water. There are currently 22 net taker states. Those legislature aren't going to bite the hand that feeds them.

What will replace the revenue? The money has to come from somewhere.

Sort of. I mean, yes, you are correct, but the bigger issue is that any bill a Congress passes, a future Congress can counter it. That's why, for it to really stick, it would need to be a repeal of the 16th Amendment.
If congress lowers it to 0%, who is going to have balls to reverse that in the next congress in any meaningful way? Would be political suicide.

You do understand as our resident taxing authority that abolishing the income tax would have no impact on other taxes like SS and Medicare or a state income tax?

Correct on the EO, incorrect on the Constitutional Amendment part. It does not require a Constitutional Amendment to change the tax code which is all they will be doing
