Unions protect mediocrity and in the past advocated for things the government wouldn’t properly demand from industry. I am glad they helped bring about proper labor conditions, but many other things have been hurtful to the business environment.
Also a big problem in this country is the government advocating for specific working conditions for manufacturing is the country which they do not require of imported goods. That has eroded our manufacturing in this country.

Because the positive achievements of unions you have listed happened 60+ years ago. Today unions are nothing but parasites that destroy jobs.
