Don't the Canadians know that this will only make prices increase for consumers in Canada?

I mean, that's all I have heard for a week from US news outlets. Apparently, when the US imposes a tariff, it's bad for US consumers. And when China, Mexico and Canada impose tariffs on US gods, it's also bad for US consumers. Amazingly, the only people in the world that are disaffected by tariffs are Americans.

quote:

The association representing bankers in Canada says U.S. subsidiaries and branches represent half of all foreign bank assets in the country, despite false claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that American banks can't do business north of the border.

"There are 16 U.S. based bank subsidiaries and branches with around C$113 billion in assets currently operating in Canada," the Canadian Bankers Association said in a statement Monday.

Isn't that kinda dumb? There is no Canadian pipeline that runs from west to east. The pipeline from canada has to go through the US. The ONLY way eastern Canada gets their oil is from the pipeline coming from the US. The US could literally close that pipeline and all of Eastern Canada goes dark. Smh

Canada is making a mistake in its escalating responses to US action.
Right on cue, Trump announces we will match any Canadian retaliatory tariffs in kind. It's simply a losing gambit for the Canucks.

That is simply a complete lie by our president in an attempt to keep his base riled up.

"There are 16 U.S.-based bank subsidiaries and branches with around C$113 billion in assets currently operating in Canada...U.S. banks now make up approximately half of all foreign bank assets in Canada."

I read that American banks in Canada are heavily regulated and are restricted from certain banking activities.
