If they start entering hotels and killing or taking Americans hostages, it's going to be a big deal.
This is an understatement. We may annex the entire region when we’re through with our response and dare the Mexican President to stop us if Americans are harmed on a large scale.

Killing a bunch of American tourist feels like the start to an epic FAFO moment.
Without question!! Maybe, while in the middle of the POTUS Trump SOTU, every cartel residence and asset gets annihilated simultaneously and POTUS Trump finishes his SOTU with "the drug cartels are done and May GOD Bless The UNITED STATES of AMERICA"!!

CostCo has stores in Mexico? That seems like a risky investment.
The warehouse is likely leased and then the inventory on any given day is somewhere in the 15-20 million dollar range. Probably lower there. Throw in a few million more in equipment and it isn't a massive loss after insurance reimbursement.

Costco up in flames!
I've been to this Costco, this is wild. I've seen enough, send in the operators.

Bro, WalMart, Sam's, Home Depot, Gap, HEB, Apple, etc all have stores in MX
So do a ton of American fast food places

Burn a Costco or a Dollar General in Dixie and the redneck good ole boys deer clubs might take out the cartels

I would think threatening the tourist industry is a bridge too far - even for the cartel.
Throw in the American tourists and this seems like not a smart move.
Trump is looking for an excuse to flex on Mexico

If they start attacking Americans, it'll be Halls of Montezuma time for the Marine Corps again.

Instead of the Middle East we should be concentrating on our communist neighbor to the north and failed drug state to the south

Their actions will release hell on them from the US if they go after hotels and Americans

Gunmen on jet skis open fire at rival drug dealer on Cancun beach, killing 12-year-old boy on lounge chair
Updated on: July 29, 2024 /
A 12-year-old boy was killed after gunmen on jet skis opened fire at a beach in Cancun, authorities said, marking another incident of deadly violence at a Mexican resort in recent years.
quote:
In 2022, two Canadians were killed in Playa del Carmen, south of Cancun, apparently because of debts between international drug and weapons trafficking gangs.
In 2021, further south in Tulum, two tourists — one a California travel blogger born in India and a German national — were killed when they apparently were caught in the crossfire of a gunfight between rival drug dealers.
This is a different scale, but Mexico has never really given an effective shite.

This would be an excellent use of our military.
