Just look at the "Ted Cruz is attacking Catholics" thread. Or the "Tucker is getting prosecuted by the CIA" stuff. It's a competition of who can lie and create the craziest, most dot-connected, question-asking conspiracy theory. And this isn't even talking about the Candace Owens types who may have left reality living in that lie for so long.

I started that thread

And yes I do believe Ted Cruz is attacking Catholics. Fundamentally the dispensationalist viewpoint is incompatible with Catholicism.

This also isn’t anything new. Joel Berry of the Babylon Bee is of this strain and he doesn’t hide his animosity about Catholicism. The Zionist Evangelical and the traditional Catholic, especially a Catholic who attends the Latin Mass, have completely incompatible views about the state of Israel.

It's not just religious differences. The reason there is conflict in MAGA land is stuff like this:

quote:

For seventy years, that answer has been evangelical Protestant Christians. Roughly 30 percent of the American electorate, 80 percent of whom vote Republican, motivated by deep biblical conviction, organized through tens of thousands of local churches, and bound together by a theological commitment to the Bible have been in the drivers seat of the conservative movement.

Remove it, or transform it, and you have a different party. Not a party with different policies. A party with different gods.

That is the actual objective.

I am going to map out what I think is the most sophisticated attack in modern political history and all of its corresponding vectors — institutional, intellectual, theological, generational, and media — and explain how each one feeds into a single ten-year project: the replacement of evangelical Protestant political theology with a Catholic integralist or ethnonationalist framework that views Jews, Israel and Protestants not as covenant partners but as adversaries of Christian civilization.

This is much more than a simple difference in religion

Is he attacking Catholics or disagreeing with their views on Israel? There's a big difference.

But doesn’t every single word of that tie to fundamental differences in a core belief system that shapes a worldview?

Mark Levin is an angry, disgusting human being who would send his defenders in this thread to die in a Middle Eastern war if it benefited Israel.

The main point is the claims of these shadowy clandestine groups conspiring towards some nefarious end, and then the counter claims opposing those conspiracies.

There's nothing shadowy or clandestine about AIPAC or the Adlesons or Soros or any of the other big movers who purchase our politicians. They're quite happy to buy them in the open.

Gotta disagree with Trump on this one. Mark Levin’s values, agenda, and priorities have never been aligned with mine.

What do you think an appeal to ridicule buys you here? You can see most of this stuff on open secrets.

Regardless of your opinions on Trump or Levin, it's ridiculous for a president to release a lengthy diatribe defending a media member from criticism.

Well, I just never recall you as a poster who necessarily ever spoke to anything being wrong with the present system that needed addressed or corrected.

Your main efforts in recent years are always generally geared towards pointing out what you see as the wrongness of MAGA types who have not liked what the current system has evolved to come and represent.

Nothing personal. Just the impression you’ve given to me over these recent years. Perhaps others as well since your offerings tend to generate a lot of negativity on average.

He just got done essentially claiming that money in politics doesn't buy influence; that's a "conspiracy theory".

Sometimes in an effort to play the board contrarian he gets out too far over his skis.
