Popular Governors - Phil Scott, Andy Beshear, Laura Kelly, etc

I don't post here and as a moderate (albeit traditionally more right-leaning), I'm probably not all that welcome here.
But politics interest me a lot and today I was poking around the most popular governors. Its interesting to me how some of the most popular are from the opposite party as the dominant one for the state (R - Phil Scott in VT, D - Andy Beshear in KY, D - Laura Kelly in KS).
I'm particularly curious as to why Beshear is so popular in KY as a Dem with a fairly national profile now. Anyone in KY or w/ connections in KY know why so many conservative-leaning people like the dude? Also, why is Phil Scott still even a Republican?
Also shoutouts to D - Josh Stein (NC), R - Brian Kemp (GA), D - Josh Shapiro (PA), and R - Joe Lombardo (NV) for being so popular in swingy states

None of those will satisfy the full out communist base of the new democrat party.

Beshear is popular because of his last name. If he wasn’t a Beshear, he wouldn’t have gotten elected. Lucky for us, a lot of his bullshite gets stonewalled.

Doesn’t really answer my question on how these governors are so popular despite being from the opposite party lol

Beshear is closer to what Democrats used to be in the 1990s and early 2000s. And he ran against two abysmal Republican candidates. Having said that, his overreaction and overreach during Covid was horrific.

Well that in of itself is interesting! Was Papa beshear also that popular in KY despite also being a Democrat governor in a red state?

What has happened th Kentucky?

Beshear had name recognition in the state because his dad was governor of the state previously.
Beshear lucked out that he initially opposed an idiot republican governor who picked a fight with public school education. The public at large sided with public education. The states largest public eduction centers are now embroiled with controversy and corruption, but Beshear will skate by because he will be long gone before the pain is felt by the citizens.
Beshear had daily Covid press conferences in which he successfully crafted his approach to appeal to the lowest common denominator…a scared and stupid public.
Beshear avoided the more controversial policies of his democrat party because the state is generally conservative and wasn’t pushing it to the point he needed to be involved. He got to lay back and hide.
The state had several natural disasters that he got to be the face of coming to the rescue, even though these were all beyond politics and any governor would have looked like a savior.

He brought gambling to the state. But otherwise, he was pretty unremarkable…which in this state, is actually quite impressive. Our republicans can’t seem to get out of their own way.

Mike Foster was one of the most popular governors in recent history in Louisiana and he was a Democrat. I'm not too familiar with the people in your list but I bet it has to do with charisma and being pretty moderate.

This doesn’t account for the vitriol spewed against the R govs by the leftist MSM.
Poor Kim Reynolds. Dang

He was Louisiana’s first ever two time Republican governor.
You are dumb.

If the Democrats ran sane candidates who are just left of center or even center left, they would probably have the presidency as long as they wanted it. Thats just the way our country has shifted with the takers being neck and neck in numbers with the producers. Problem is they won’t because they are scared of disenfranchising the ever-growing moon bat left.

its not uncommon
Charlie Baker was the Republican governor of MA who won his election 67-33 in 2018 and wouldve won again if he ran in 2022.
