I understood it to mean God hears but does not listen to prayers of war.
We can also pray for the wrong reasons, such as to defeat the enemy in war, without asking ourselves what God thinks of such a war. It is easy to write “God is with us” on a banner; many are keen to ensure that God is with them, but few bother to check whether they are actually with God.

The Islamic Mullahs have been waging an Unjust War against Christians and Jews for almost 50 years. Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, has chosen POTUS Trump to be an Agent of God that will SMITE the Mullahs who waged an Unjust War, and thus, the Mullahs prayer of Death to America is Unanswered.
Pope is thanking God for Trump, the Agent of Smite on the enemies of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Does the Pope know that during WWII there were lots of Catholic chaplains who provided spiritual care and moral support to soldiers. Many of those chaplains died in combat.

Amazing how bloodthirsty Trump Christians are. Jesus stayed the sword in the end and preached thou shall not kill, yet some would say mass murder is righteous. Sad times.
