Do you know how popes are elected? Ballots.

The most un-Christlike Pope in recent memory.

No one cares what a faux dude who calls himself pope has to say.

I dont think the Pope is supposed to be not pro-life. We may not like his position, and thats okay.

Old Testiment.
Correct. "Whoever sheds human blood, By man his blood shall be shed,
For in the image of God He made mankind." (Gen. 9:6)
Apparently, the Pope doesn't understand the imago dei , the sanctity of human life, or the authority of God's Word.

Leo needs to reread the Gospels. After Jesus forgave the thief being crucified next to Him, He didn't order the guards to take him down and set him free. He allowed for the sentence of the State to be carried out.

Hate to tell ya, but there is no Christian argument against the death penalty that can be supported by scripture.

What about the argument that I’d never ever ever be able to trust the Government with the power to off people? Very rarely do they get a single thing correct

Sure. You can feel that way.
That's not a Biblical argument though. AND it definitely doesn't apply to this execution.

Wrong.
quote:
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Romans 12:19
Try a different Bible, Prot. You have so many.

If we're going to pretend "don't take revenge" means "don't punish criminals," we might as well abolish the entire criminal justice system.

Except it doesn’t say “don’t take revenge” at all, does it? It says never avenge yourselves. Neither does it say abolish the criminal justice system.
Typical prot manipulation of scripture to fit your worldview
Talarico would be proud.

Not sure why the snarky attitude, but ok . . .
Rom. 12:19 is with respect to personal wrongs and enemies, not to societal crimes. Rom. 12:20 ". . . your enemy . . ." Hasan has not done AlwysATgr any wrong. But he has murdered thirteen American soldiers - image bearers of God. And for that, he ought to be executed by man. Simple, expedient, poetic justice.
If Scripture (Rom. 12) is as you're suggesting, then how is that reconciled with what is written in the following chapter:
"for it (governing authorities) is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a servant of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil." Rom. 13:4. These are human governments established by God.

You need to look up the definition of the word "avenge." My description was accurate.
quote:
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

I'll keep my "many" Bibles before ceding authority to some pompous, unregenerate human.

The Catholic Church is the only church founded by Christ himself. I will pray for your forgiveness for this blasphemy.
