Should social media platforms be allowed to ban people that share views the platform does not agree with? Examples are banning of Alex Jones, Milo, James Woods, etc recently. Should free speech be protected on these platforms, should political affiliations be protected classes, etc

Answer the question, and include your political affiliation or political leanings. I’m interested in the splits here between parties

Nope.

On each of those platforms the user can unfollow/block any user they choose.

Yes. But they should receive absolutely no freedoms or tax incentives based on their "free speech" platforms.

Should. I’m not taking a poll on what is happening right now. I want to know where the opinions are

Depends. Does the "political speech" in question, violate the terms of service?

I’m not changing anything else. Just asking the one question. As of right now, restaurants can’t

In this scenario, the political speech protection would trump terms of service

Isn’t the issue with them censoring posts is that doing so makes them responsible for content and then opening themselves up to slander/libel lawsuits??

Conservative here. I don't like what Facebook and the other social media sites are doing and don't use them but I am wary of government involvement. In another thread a poster pointed out that in time the free market will sort this out though it may not happen quick enough for some.

My advice would be to not use their service, encourage others to leave them also and enjoy their downfall when it comes. Liberals may get off on forcing people to do things, like baking queers a cake but us patriotic, conservative Americans are better than they are.

No. The user should decide what to do with the content by blocking, reading, or just ignoring.

As an independent I notice a big discrepancy in what liberal posts are allowed to fly versus conservative. It's obvious what's going on.

Yes.

And should they be called on their double standard bullshite publicly, loudly, and at every turn? Yes. The market will sort things out.

This is one of the reasons why the SCOTUS ruling against Apple today was interesting. The defense BookFace and other content providers have used is "we're immune, we're just a platform. You can't sue us for the content or lack thereof."

Well ya, right up until you start censoring who and what uses your service (and are hamfistedly biased doing it). At which point you're no longer a platform, and are therefore open to lawsuit.

Terms of service doesn’t trump protected classes. In this case, political affiliation is a protected class
