Yeah I know this isn't political but perhaps they'll give us a break since it's the day before Thanksgiving.

In the interest of one day Kumbaya let's talk food

How many of you are like my family and have two or three things that they simply have to make every year? Green bean casserole doesn't count LOL

In my household it's all about the sausage and Chestnut stuffing and the potatoes au gratin with gruyere cheese.

If I failed to make one of those two there would be a Revolt in my

Every year we also have the one experiment. The new dish that may or may not make the permanent cut going forward. This year I think I'm going to make a second stuffing that includes apples and cranberries.

Feel free to include any other quirky Thanksgiving Traditions you might have.

I got fresh lemon off the tree and whipped up a lemon-icebox pie. Wife does the heavy stuff. Used to make oyster dressing (ton of butter) till the pancreas objected.

For Christmas we usually mix it up and do a Prime Rib roast and have fried turkey wings as an app.

My mom tried it once. She usually does a very good stuffing but it was just awful. It's a family joke now.

Turkey.....fried while drinking a whole lot of whiskey. The novice would claim that to be a bad idea, but Ive been honing this craft for years my friends.

ETA: Who am i fooling. Tofurkey while gingerly sipping a case of Zima and box Zin

I contribute pie and ice cream. I stay out of the rest, and avoid any political talk at the dinner table.

As far as specialties, I don't have one. My wife has usually handled all the food but this year I'm attempting homemade strawberry cheesecake.

We do something like this often, minus the nutmeg and pecan. Delicious.

I make a shrimp, crawfish, and grits dressing that everyone seems to go apey over. I'm usually put in charge of the smoker for the meats, too.

I'm smoking a bird on the BGE. Wife is making homemade dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, balsamic brussels sprouts, pecan pie, crescent rolls, a pumpkin roll and spiked mulled apple cider.
