Poliboard Downvote Motivation

So, when you see a thread that you don’t like, are you downvoting the OP for posting it, or the topic itself?
For instance, If you see story from say, the Hill or Circa news that isn’t 100% MAGA, Are you assuming that because an OP posted a story that it automatically means they support the topic of the thread and are trying to pump it? Or are you downvoting the just the article you don’t like?
Or is it that you are wanting the Poliboard just to feature topics that fit your narrative and therefore you’re downvoting just because your bias and what you want to be true is being challenged?
Not a troll, this is a legit question for the denizens of the board.

The way I see it is if you downvote someone but don't respond, it's tacit admission what while you don't like their post, you lack the intellectual capacity to attack it.
Or, at the least, you don't want to just laugh at them so, you go with anonymity.
I find it particularly silly in an already anonymous environment.
Downvotes might make sense if I was hiding my real life persona.
But on this board?

I've probably down-voted a total of 5 times (I haven't counted...but, very very few times)
3 were of "Dog boy" (now, I just completely ignore his posts. Haven't read a single one in a year or so.
2 were only because the DVs were so astronomically high that I just wanted to join in the fun.
I did not DV the OP...but, I'll watch the count. If it gets into the hundreds I'll succumb to the peer pressure
