It's true.
I think the propaganda machine around Trump has done a lot of work on people. These people think of him as a God, not a politician. In their minds, he can do no wrong. It's pretty weird.
The Republican party is going to be a mess when he's out of office. He's incapable of caring about anything else other than himself, so he won't care what happens when he's gone. He'll still be somewhat influential inside the party for years to come as he tries to remain relevant by staying in the spotlight and continuing to make everything about himself, but since he won't be on the ballet any more, less and less people are going to tie their names to his and as the years go by, it'll cause problems in the party.
That's the dangers of selling out to a psychopathic narcissist, though.

How does Trump asking people to pledge to vote equal to him asking for allegiance to himself?

I think the moment he’s out of office his influence dies actually. He’s radioactive and Republicans are only close to him out of self interest. Once he has no power we will see all of them go back to hating him like they did before he got elected, they are all sycophants.

Is this not a get out the vote rally? I see no big deal at this point. A pledge is a promise, he thinks he is the greatest president of all time, and he makes a joke about bypassing registration. Basically made a joke while asking the crowd to promise to go out and vote “no matter what”.
