For us it is a bluff we want called. For the Dems it is a play they cannot control. Both sides are playing chicken on this hoping that no one side gets enough for witnesses.
Democrats know if they get Bolton or Mulvaney, The Republicans will reflexively call the Biden(s) and maybe Schiff and Ciaramella. They will not risk that

How much longer and further afield is the fishing expedition going to go?
Ask Ken Starr. He's the one that went from a shady real estate deal, to Paula Jones, eventually ending up with nothing but an intern's dirty panties.
But he got him on the dirty panties at least.

So you agree, it's nothing but a fishing expedition.
Welcome aboard!

Please tell me why some Republicans on here are against witnesses being called?
1. It's the house's job
2. House Democrats didn't subpoena Bolton, they had him and then decided nah
3. What good is going to come from it? The articles are both vague and unconstitutional . The juror's (Senators) can't provide the evidence for the prosecutors (the house managers), then rewrite the charges (articles), then convict to remove the POTUS.
5. too many witnesses will be called, it will become a circus that will only further divide the country over a freaking phone call that the POTUS politely asked "can you look into some potential corruption of Americans involved in your country?" oh the horror of that request!
6. The main reason is, it's naive leadership to allow the Democrats to continue to leak unverified information in order to keep the impeachment narrative alive...

Joe Biden is the one that needs to be called to the stand.

Who was hurt by this in the end?
I get being mad about this impeachment, but no matter what the Democrats will do, they will do it very badly, and Democrats will not win, and Republicans will not lose.
Every calorie they burn on impeachment is one less calorie they have to burn trying to legislate their bullshite. Republicans are in a really good position here, and mostly because of the ineptitude of their opposition (as usual).

Both sides are playing chicken on this hoping that no one side gets enough for witnesses.
1. If the Democrats can remove Trump, Trump should not be President.
2. If the Democrats can’t remove Trump, let them do their worst. The economy is doing relatively well, so who cares if Congress is too distracted to meddle with it and frick it up?
Seeing as how it is virtually impossible for the Democrats to remove the President via impeachment, we revert to #2. The absolute worst thing for the Democrats is to complete the impeachment process and fail to remove Trump, so let them commit suicide .

The senate is to sit in judgment. They should not be calling witnesses of their own volition. The House was responsible for putting the evidence together.

It's funny to watch Republicans complain about this being a fishing expedition after the trolling job by Ken Starr.
As a man sows, so shall he reap.
Live by the fishing expedition, die by the fishing expedition.
Man has experienced this for so many thousands of years, that we've developed numerous ways to describe it - yet we still forget it every single day.

They cant stand the truth.
Their orange whacko will be excused from all duties after witnesses are allowed.
Senators in purple states would be castrated/raped at the polls if the public knew for a fact what happened with no excuses for allowing him to serve another day but "we liked his judicial appointment".

I see lots of opposition to it on here, why is that?
Because we want this impeachment bullshite to go away and for the senate to get back to confirming judges.
Witnesses would drag out the trial for weeks and especially so with court battles over executive privilege blocking testimony. No thanks.
