Are rape allegations really a deal-breaker in 2026? Seems like his anti-Israel stance is the biggest impediment to ascending in national politics.
I don't know anything about Maine's politics, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Platner's main opponent in the Democratic primary was also not pro-Israel and that's why they didn't pull the plug on Platner before the primary. This way they let Platner win and now they can just swap him out with whoever they want. No election needed.
Am I off target?
