All the signs are currently pointing to Planet Fitness being given the Bud Light treatment. Last year, it was reported that the controversy regarding Dylan Mulvaney cost its parent, Anheuser-Busch, a staggering $27 billion in market cap, as well as hundreds of millions in sales.
They doubled down!

Management backs this shite because they are told to.
The head of Hertz just got turfed for reversing the company’s massive EV push, for instance.

It wouldn't take much to wipe out Planet Fitness. Its profit margin must be razor thin. I used to be a member, and the gyms were nice considering you were paying next to nothing. But they never seemed anymore crowded than gyms that cost 8x as much.

IIRC, Planet Fitness’ business model is based on a ton of people paying memberships but never showing up.
If people cancel memberships, the number of people there may remain the same but there is less money to subsidize the people actually working out.

That is their business model. The memberships are so cheap that people keep them and don’t go. I know several people that have a black card membership just to tan because it is cheaper than any tanning salon.

Imagine if the tacky sign was still on the scoreboard at Alex Box.

That sweet Blackrock money means more to them than all of the women that workout there…

Everyone transferring their memberships elsewhere.

Because they actively pushed out people who would use them Tootsie rolls, pizza nights, removing their free weights. It seems more like an anti-gym.

My wife was going to one before work with a girl she worked with. They went for a few months, then a man dressed as a woman showed up. He followed them into the dressing room. My wife and the girl left the dressing room.
The other girl told them at the desk that there was a man in the women's dressing room. She was immediately called a bigot and chewed out by employees. They lost those two customers that day.

we're referencing ESG here? I can accept that large firms are more likely to back a company with "high" ESG standards.. but these people seem to be backing ESG over money in a lot of instances and I'm trying to figure out how/why. Money is still king regardless of woke bullshite.

He made the push for EVs and then got turfed I thought

There is a cure for men who go in women's restrooms and locker rooms. If all of the real woman in there ganged up and beat the shite out of the pervert, he would not be likely to do it again. No jury where I live would convict the women.

Because they are treating this like climate change BS. They are brainwashed and willing to lose money for their cause. Somehow they get money likely from leftists. The good thing is these leftists who give money will lose it once company can't afford to stay in business. Less money for them to spend on other BS.
It really is dumb. And companies have went out of business solely for woke.
This place and company has small margins so its going to be a future feel good story when we read about their bankruptcy.
