Thinking about it, the video camera won't change aperture quick enough in something like that so essentially the image is over exposed.
In other words, since it was dark, the camera made it look bigger than it was due to the sudden emission of light.

Holy Jesus. Was not expecting that video. Totally missed it first watch. Plane had to be doing 300+ mph into the ground.
