WTF! So what are the law abiding citizens that are on medications supposed to do when 17 stores have closed due to shoplifting? Just bend over and take it and suffer the spoils of this fricked up city.

When this creates a "medicine desert" will this too be whitey's fault?

Was there two years ago. Walked into B+B and the first thing the owner asked was if we left anything in the car. Since the police won’t respond to anything under $950, the homeless will break in if they see a handkerchief to see if anything is under it.
You can have SF but Monterrey and Yosemite were worth the trip.
Check the museums if you are there. Found a Monet exhibit thirty minutes before closing. Would love to have seen it but couldn’t see paying that price for thirty minutes. Things like that don’t pass through BR.

Are any robbers going to bring their calculators to tally up the values and steal $949.99?
First you steal the calculator.

So everybody has a $949 gift card to everything in SF

Sadly, my own most recent experience there (immediately pre-Covid) after going once per year for almost 30 years was similar and in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Bums sleeping on sidewalk, aggressive panhandling, following people onto MUNI and harassing them and shopowners in the neighborhood. The worst was that they were uniformly loud and insane.

Is this before or after sales tax?

Would like CWont, Boos, and the rest of the resident Libs to chime in on why this is a good thing.

Residency has consequences?

Is it $950 per store?
Is that a daily number?
Asking for a friend.

For your amusement:
quote:
Walgreens has insurance. The current issue is that so many homeless ppl did not get the stimulus or any financial help, just because the pandemic is considered over, the real pandemic which is poverty IS NOT OVER. Don’t demonize this man, people are desperate and angry.
quote:
Gotta love ignoring how much Walgreens steals from the community in wage theft, taxes, etc., but yeah let’s demonize the probably homeless guy who was likely pushed out of his home by the rising housing costs.
quote:
@Walgreens is worth $11 BILLION dollars I’m not saying it’s ok but they not worried about a few hundred dollar worth of lost items! Get over it!
quote:
It was a goddamn Walgreens. I guarantee you he wasn’t doing it for money. It was almost assuredly stuff he needed that most of us take for granted.
quote:
I guess we’re all going to focus on the impact this has on a multibillion dollar business instead of the possible factors leading up to this guy having to steal in broad daylight
quote:
Companies like this (I’ve worked at CVS) throw away thousands of $ of good food and medicine each week if it’s w/in a month of expiration, then lock the garbage cans....Walgreens will be fine. Ask yourself why this man is so desperate for meds.
quote:
When your allergies are at level 10 and claritin is $15 a box, you do what ya gotta do I guess. The real boss move was homie just riding the bike through the store ????

Let's check if Walgreens even pays taxes, who is the real thief
